Thanks for your reply. No, he was xrayed when he started with this 2.5/3 years ago. Vet said no point re-xraying. Yes ideally fusion but I've read something like only 25% of horses fuse naturally. Which steroid was he injected with and did you have HA as well? That's what I'm unsure about...
I'm looking for experience of those that have had their horses medicated with Triamcinolone Acetonide (Adcortyl) or Methylprednisolone Acetate (Depo Medrone). I'm unsure which one to go ahead with.
Bit of background, my 22 year old pony was diagnosed with arthritis in both hocks - though one...
We're looking to move house soon to East/South Leeds / North Wakefield area - basically anywhere close to the M1/A1 or M62 and of course before deciding on an area I want to make sure there are suitable yards I could move my horse to! I'm from north Leeds so don't know that side too well. :)...
I did the MTL last year and it was very challenging but an absolutely amazing experience even though the weather wasn't kind to us on a couple of the days. My horse's shoes were pretty battered after it though but the horses coped fine and really seemed to enjoy it.
We did it over 3 days...
My boy is on both fronts. Hunts, jumps, does dressage, hacks and never had a day lame. In fact he has a couple of other iffy conformation faults which don't affect him either.
Aerowear Outlyne. I'm 5 ft 2 and I find it really comfortable. Hardly notice I'm wearing it. They do a short version and you can adjust at the sides so will fit most shapes I would think.
Mine loves apples, carrots, Swede and polos. He's also partial to s biscuit or two especially hobnobs and choc digestives. He loves cheese n onion crisps too. He always investigates anything I'm eating or drinking! That's how I discovers he likes crisps and biscuits! He does not however like...
Sounds great. I pay 20 a wk and that only includes, stable, year round turnout in fairly poor fields, 24/7 in summer and use of an ok-ish arena, prone to flooding. Hay, bedding extra.
Another vote for throstlenest. Does come out with second hand saddles and waivers fitting charge if u buy one. If not I think charge is 50. Hey farm near huddersfield not bad either but unless you are local you have to go to them.
I also have an outlyne, which is really comfy although I can't get it over my jacket for SJ and hunting but I use it at home and for XC. Forget I'm wearing it most of the time.
My good doer is fed Bailey's No 14 (Lo-Cal) Balancer mixed with fast fibre. He was starting to look a little lacklustre in Autumn last year so started him on the balancer and he's never looked so good in winter...has a real shine to his coat, even where he's been clipped.
Mine is a 14.1 Connie x and is 435kg, just about right weight wise. Gets 6kg haylage overnight, turned out 7.30-4 on very poor grazing and gets 1.5kg fast fibre plus a balancer split over 2 feeds. I had to double net his net to slow him down as he's a greedy buggar. Is worked 5-6 times a week...
