Hi all
Currently pregnant with my first baby and wondered if anyone had any advice to give me – in terms of farm life and horses!
Baby will be born in Summer (beg of July) so horsey will be out and not back in until around November. My horse is on DIY thankfully right behind my house so the...
Buy buy buy … you fell in love? Buy it!!!
I bought my SE arab when she was 3 years old - backed her myself and like others have said - she's like my shadow! She has so much personality which Ive not seen in any other breed of horse before - a total diva. A totally fabulous breed.
Hi there.
Personally, I wouldn't if it was already lame. As others have said, who knows what it will be like for riding when it isn't lame. Have they said why its still lame three months on?
If you really do want an ex racer, ring some of the local yards to see what they have coming into...
Hi all
My TB needs a pair of front boots for general hacking only (nothing too extreme) mainly road and dirt tracks shes had her shoes off for a few months now (due to the fact she cant keep normal shoes on as she an extremely annoying love of big muddy bogs!) and although shes fine in...
I got an ex racer straight from the track (last race was about two weeks earlier) - she walked straight into the box, got out the other end, walked down the main road half asleep, got turned out for a few months, I got on her and rode her like she'd been a riding horse all of her life (after a...
My TB was diagnosed with this in Jan 2015 following a bout of lympingitus the following year. She was xrayed and she had damaged her rear suspensory branch (from infection rather than shock injury).
She was on box rest for about 2/3 months where she could only walk around her barn whilst I was...
Secret is .... don't wash daily - keep to once a week - bring in at night and leave (do not touch!!!) in the morning brush dry mud off and cover thickly whole area in petroleum jelly- better than any expensive product and with a very mud rashy arab - Ive tried everything!!! x
Hi - my mare has a slight tear to her hind suspensory in January (caused by lymphangitis rather than impact damage). She had the cartrofen injections, strict box rest for 6 weeks and advised to try the eggbars on her hind feet (previously she only had normal shoes on her two fronts with nothing...
Any photos?
In my experience any type of swelling (like elephant leg) needs vet asap to get it down. My mare came in with swelling and was lymphangitis … for the sake of £100 now, may save you a lot more in the future!
Days or weeks ?? depends where it came out etc ... just try to keep that white line free from any little tiny stones - my arab doesn't have shoes on and sometimes they do work their way in!
Hi - yes abscesses come across most of the time as broken leg - they can look so bad and painful. A bit like if you imagine a huge blister on the ball of your foot and was then made to walk on it constantly.
In my experience, I always get the farrier over the vet for an abscess (or suspected...
