I'm on DIY and buy hay from yard at £3 a bale for good quality hay. YO tops up my pallet as needed. I average between about 20 to 30 bales a month depending on time of year. That's for 3 horses. They get ad lib and always have some left over in net.
I've got 4. 3 are on DIY livery on a small yard about 8 miles from home, and one is on loan to a local riding school that specialise in Side Saddle. 2 on livery are ridden and 1 is a youngster. We both work full time Monday to Friday 9-5.
I'm the same with allergies- asthma, eczema, allergic rhinitis. I take oral and nasal antihistamines all year round. Have used a dust mask for several years and really makes a difference.
This just reminds me that I really really need to do something about mine. I currently pay £100 a month to NFU for a 16 year old warmblood who has done not a lot other than eat and enjoy getting filthy for the last year!!
I have found Clara Peake to be very good. She did power rasp my older horses, but was absolutely fine with one who is notoriously awkward! But she also gave my
youngster his first dental experience, without power rasp. Didn't do too much with him, but certainly gave him a good experience ready...
I'd like to know that too!!
For an area in the middle of the countryside with bridleways running through the middle of it, there seems to be a serious shortage of yards.
One of them is with NFU, and that one is £100 per month. That is the one I claimed on previously. Although he is 15 now, he has been with them for 10 years and I haven't ever changed the policy, despite meaning to each year. The other 2 are with KBIS , and their prices have shot up this year...
I really need to rethink my horse insurance. Have had all renewals in together, and it comes to £2436 a year for 3 of them.
I know insurance is expensive and has increased, and I know I made 1 claim on 1 of the policies 3 years ago, but I'm sure there must be better options out there. I keep...
What about Lowlands Farm in Shrewley, just outside Lapworth. They also do RDA there. I haven't ridden there, but a friend in her 60s goes to help get her confidence back. Don't know the number, but sure they have a Facebook page.
