Well, not with TVFH but have now put a tick in the 'Have you Jumped a big hedge out hunting' box, lesson I have learned, watch out for a drop on the other side! Horse was brilliant and we stayed together.......just. So now I have a story to tell in my dotage......which probably isn't too far off...

We hunt over very hilly country and do go at speed up and down, it can be pretty hairy and I have had one occasion where the 5th leg went missing as we 'traversed' a slope but generally the horse has no more wish to fall over than you do so heels forward, lean back and enjoy the ride :)

My wife and I too have had our first days with the TVFH this season, twice Autumn hunting and once since the 'season propper' began, really nice people who made us very welcome. First day was on arable land with no jumping at all, second on hill country jumped couple logs and a set of rails...

100% with you on this, I had one which would gallop off with me, hunting on the hills one day wife said, 'canter him up there (very steep incline), that'll take it out of him', so I did, up that hill, down the other side without losing much speed, up the next hill and finally managed to halt him...

Without doubt there have been cases where pro hunters have assaulted antis, that isn;t right either, unfortunately, as I have said before, the extremists get all the headlines, those with rational views drowned by their noise.
