The thing is that im 99% that the saddle is either the root cause of one of the main causes..he was ridden in the saddle that didnt fit for 2 years before I got him. Its not an awful fit but its not the right shape for his back and slips, but Ill look into possibly getting the vet out again...
My horse had the physio out not long ago and she said that he was very stiff on his left side and that his pelvis had rotated (?) Afterwards he seemed better for a bit but we found the saddle didnt fit and it sat too close to his spine on the left side because of dodgy flocking. Hes been off...
Yes I know, sorry. Its just all so frustrating and now Im left wondering I will ever be able to have him being comfortably ridden again and at the moment (I know, bad horse owner) I dont actually have the money for the vet to do a full check after having physio, saddle fitter and a massage...
Weve asked the vet for permission. Like I said, hes always been slightly off but had no obvious lameness, more muscle soreness/tightness which will obviously be worse with more work.
Some of you may have a seen my my horse is acting odd!! posts but we may have found the reason why.
I was trying a saddle today that seemed to be a pretty decent fit, but my horse wasnt bending (which isnt unusual for him) and had quite a short stride. When I pushed him forward he seemed to...
Not a youngster..10 aha but he was a field ornament until he was 7. The reason I want to try the clicker is that it would give him a clear yes thats what I wanted which I feel would benefit him and help him focus on me more. Ive got him accepting an electric toothbrush but the clippers and...
Ive ridden him bareback once (just walk in the school) and he didnt really know what to do at first but I will do more, I just feel like since I can barely stay on even at the walk I wont be doing him much more good than just walking in hand. Yard Im at doesnt let us free school and I did...
Just a rant
Ive owned my horse since May, but loaned him for a few months beforehand. As it got into summer I was obviously excited about the idea of lots of summer rides with my first horse but the reality has been as far from that as possible. First we had back lady out as part of general...
Im glad you got it sorted! The only things that have changed are his field and his feed but those were both over a month ago and its only the last few days hes been acting odd. He was fidgety on his stable block but when I took him out to the main yard was when he was really bad, he was...
Another post, and a bit of a weird one, sorry!
I dont need a calmer but more of something that helps a horse focus if that makes sense. Hes okay to lead and groom and ride but his mind always seems to be somewhere else..its not just a riding thing! His mind is usually on food..lol..but it...
The last few days my (usually very placid) gelding has been acting really jumpy and anxious. Hes perfectly fine in the field and to catch and lead but when hes at the stables and tied up he starts acting odd. Just fidgeting and looking everything which is really unlike him. We had the farrier...
Does anybody clip their horse in summer? Even with his summer coat my gelding still gets very hot and sweaty when I ride and Ive noticed that on warmer days hes become quite lethargic and very hard to get going forward and off the leg. I know its not the done thing but were planning to hog...
Ill try to keep this short..
My horse is petrified of clippers, more specifically, the sound. He was bought as a 7 year old from his first home, where he had just been a field ornament and never been clipped as far as we know, then he was sold to us a few months ago from his second owners as a...
I have a 10 year old cob X, just bought him a few months ago.
Hes lovely, wouldnt ever dream of biting or kicking, but lately hes been a bit touchy. We moved him to summer grazing a few weeks ago but he got loose poos so we moved him back to his old field, which doesnt have an awful lot of...
