Wait for the considerate cyclist, NOT

Because it would stop people whizzing past the horses - which OP was pissed off about. The same reason people ride two abreast on the road. If OP cared about pissing people off they wouldn't ride on the footpaths in the first place, but if they're going to do it they might as well attempt to do...

Wait for the considerate cyclist, NOT

In the future I would ride down the middle of the two paths, or two abreast, to force any cyclists to slow. I suppose then you might have issues with cyclists who put their heads down and pedal, but in any case I think you need to make yourselves more noticeable since technically you aren't...

    Pentathlon anybody? Showjumping schedule...

It's a mixture of the same horses and new ones, the pool they make the draw from contains more horses than riders.

    Pentathlon anybody? Showjumping schedule...

Well, to be fair, if I'd drawn Carpe Diem I'd be cursing under my breath. And yeah, teapot has it right, they aren't going to change the whole sport and bring in their own horses! The entire pentathlon is based on the idea of getting a message from A to B, and you have to cross a whole...

Children wanting to quit, but i love that pony

I don't think breaking him to drive is a good solution if it means your DD will still be going to the yard daily with you. I would be reassessing whether pony & child are a good match for each other, looking to move yards/find a way to get old teacher back - in essence trying to get to the root...

    Riding Transitions Newbie Questions!

To push the walk on, think about squeezing your horse with your heels rather than kicking him on. Make sure it's a gentle squeeze and that it's even on both sides of his tummy. Once he has started to move off from the squeeze, stop doing it instantly. To slow your trot, slow your rising and...

Thumbs up for not feeding horses

Can't believe her mother (who thinks feeding random horses is "just a bit of fun") is an insurance adviser!

    Conditon score my horse

It's so hard to judge from photos - I think his pulled tail is accentuating his back end.

Why is a frog, called a frog!

I'm usually a lurker but (for some reason) I felt the need to reg for this! I always thought frog came from an old foreign (maybe French?) root word which meant or used to mean 'forked' (which fits since the frog is forked like a V).
