Thanks everyone, some great ideas we will try. Will definitely give some of them a try. Really like the idea of trying to replicate the break between the warm up and test at home, and doing it more than once. Thank you.
I'm not sure that's the case here. I mean, I'm sure she's not overly thrilled at having to go and trot round some white boards but we've done a lot to vary her work and not overschool her (as I think we were in danger of that in the past) and she does a few different activities. Plus at this...
Any tips for a horse that goes a bit introverted and backward when going from the warm up into the dressage arena (fully appreciate it's likely the jockey too but I think it's also the horse so looking for other people's experience).
Horse is 12, fairly bombproof, and goes out and about...
I was lucky enough to see that at a BD North display during junior camp, Halloween weekend so the display riders were in fancy dress. She rode her GP freestyle dressed as a spider complete with a costume with 8 legs bouncing on his bum 🤣. What a treat for us all to see her practise for London.
Thanks all, I will definitely look at the off horse exercises.
Sbloom the ergox2 stuff sounds v interesting but I am concerned about finding the right fitter and not being left waiting ages if something needs adjusting etc. Do you know if they do any clinics or demo days to go along and learn...
This definitely plays a role, horse has had a weaker right hind. She has remedial shoeing on the back and is much better and straighter now (and better for being in work, the weaker she is the more her legs feel like they're all going in different directions!).
This might sound a bit odd but does anyone have any experience of not being able to sit comfortably on their horse. I permanently feel like I have one leg longer than the other and I can't sit straight. Currently saddle hunting and everything feels uncomfortable, I have a long thigh and find...
I tack up on mine no problem, just swing the partition over to the ramp to give more space. I've got a tack locker that can be accessed both from outside and from inside the horse area, best design feature we had put in. As others say headcollar on over the bridle one you're tacked up so they...
Thanks everyone, I had a very close look at the headpiece today and it does indeed have an arrow and the word front on it. I've flipped it round and it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. Very pleased with the quality and fit vs some of the reviews I read before.
Stupid question incoming....
Just purchased a micklem second hand and it arrived in bits (chuffed to bits with the quality and it has clearly been well maintained).
The head piece over the poll has one side that is more cut out and shaped than the other. I assumed this bit faced forwards so...
I world go with the drugs and treatment from your vet to get on top of it. When my mare came down with asthma she had been on a straw bed and fed dry hay her entire life with no problem.
I found drugs were needed to get on top of it, my mare had steroids and ventipulmin. For a couple of...
