I came across and Arnold the other day which I thought was adorable. My personal favourite is our wee pony Simon who's name suits him perfectly as he is just a wee Granda pony. Also know a Roy. Pony's with people names are the best imo.
I started hunting for the first time this year and all I can say is absolutely go for it!!! I'm such a nervous person and it has done me the world of good for my confidence in all areas of riding. I was able to get out on a borrowed pony who knew his job well so that was a big help. The hunt I...
Owner has had her scoped for them. Tbh she's got a lot of horses and doesn't seem to see windsucking as a problem as long as they're clear of ulcers. I help to look after them and am constantly saying not to leave hay nets in particular pony's stable but am not listened to. That's what I was...
I was considering buying a pony I've known for a long time, but the catch is she's a windsucker. But not in the conventional way on the door or in the air she only does it on an empty hay net. She hasn't got ulcers or anything as of yet. I'm thinking that this windsucking could be easily managed...
She is really lacking muscle and I think before she was bought she had just been ploughed round jumps with no interest in her schooling. So I think it is that she lacks self carriage and needs to work from behind more! Any exercise ideas to encourage this? Thank you everyone for helping!
Merry Christmas everyone! So the story is I've been riding a small horse for a friend who really is lovely, easy to work with, has great breaks and transitions doing flatwork or faster work. The problem is she leans so much with her head, I end up with dead arms and my core collapsing. She isn't...
I'm far from an expert or anything but a very simple way to think about it is too keep the leg on and a deep seat but maintain contact with the reins so it doesn't run away from you and get flat. Also doing other exercises like transitions will help to get her more forward and picking up her...
My trainer would always say a flat trot has the speed but not the impulsion. Perhaps you have the energy but it's not controlled properly, I would try and keep the rhythm but collect more into a bouncy trot.
Also a friend was fuming to turn up to her yard to find her horse had been used in a riding lesson for a beginner without her permission! Another friend put her pony out on loan for it to return minus very expensive saddle and bridle which had been "stolen". The loaners hadn't insured the items...
I work at a riding school and nothing annoys me more than school horse's flashes going missing. Either someone has stolen them, or the horses are tacked up with the flash left hanging so it ends up in the bed. I'll arrange all the flashes one day so each horse has their own then the next they'll...
I got a Charles Owen skull cap for £30 with all the new standards. There are some reliable brands with helmets that aren't too expensive if you have a look. Also just personal opinion but decathlon boots really didn't appeal to me when I tried them - again, reliable brands are available for not...
Hi there! Originally the owners thought he was about 6. From looking at his milk teeth and general body he looks about 3 (probably broken in at 2 as so many here are :(. The owners should have checked before they got him but what's done is done. He was sold untried along with videos of him...
So I've been given the task of training up a very very green 12.2hh pony. He's the safest thing and completely bombproof but just has no clue what he's doing riding wise. This is the first of this type of pony I've had to deal with so looking some advice. He was sold to the owner as older than...
