Yes mine went in for the injections because the vet wanted it as sterile as possible with the injection being direct into the joint. She did it whilst I waited and it didnt take long then it was 3 days box rest followed by a short time on small paddock turnout.
My mare had her hocks injected last yr and it didn't work for long. She then had a 4 week course of something (can't remember what is was called!) that improved one of her hocks but not the other so following my vets advice she had irap injected into one hock that was still painful. I am amazed...
My mare got kicked in the field about 8 weeks ago resulting in a fractured splint bone. This was a big set back for her as I had only just got her back into work having been lame with atheritis in her hocks. Due to the artheritis she couldnt be stabled for any length of time so was put onto...
Good on her for putting safety first. I watched the team showjumping and dressage with my 4yr old who couldn't understand why the riders had taken their hats off and where cantering round.
If you do it for one everyone will expect it. You need to remember this is you buisness and I wouldn't put myself out of pocket. Depending on the situation the most I would do is give them longer to pay but that would only be if they had a job lined up.
All depends on the weather, we usually look at doing wheat straw anytime anytime around August. We do the majority of hay prior to the straw however this year is proving very different. We normally have about 200 acres of hay and silage nearly done by now but with all this rain we have only got...
Its definately worth doing especially the way the harvest is this year. My family are farmers they charge £10 acre for mowing, £10 per acre for turning and £8 per acre for rowing up. We don't do small bales so can't tell you how much that would be but we charge by the hour for loading, carting...
Got my 16hh horse coming back of loan tomorrow. When he went on loan 18 months ago he went with a band new bridle (Only had it on a hand full of times), saddle and 2 turnout rugs. I understand these items have been used for the last 18months so won't be in the same condition as they went in but...
The farming community get use to this. For years now the harvest has been unpredictable due to the weather. I can remember a few years ago not getting my hay until September because of the weather. I would say the biggest problem is going to be getting a second crop because it just wont have...
Its not easy parting with your pony. I kept mine for several years then found myself pregnant and I knew I wouldn't have enough time to do them all justice. I couldn't bring myself to sell her so I put her on loan to a friend who has a little girl that rides her. I find it really difficult to...
My friend had a horse that travelled fine for years in an Ifor then suddenly one day she started struggling to stand up and would be all sweated up by the time she got to the destination. It was really scary the trailer was rocking from side to side whilst travelling. It turned out her horse had...
I work at a primary school and have 3 horses all on DIY. I only stop at school late if I have meetings. I usually bring my planning, marking etc home and do this later in the evening when I have sorted the horses out. I find the biggest problem is arranging the farrier and vet because I am not...
My horse was diagnosed with arthritis in its hocks last yr. He had steroid injections which seemed to ease the pain but after a short period of time off work he showed signs of pain again so had Irap treatment. The Irap has worked wonders. My vet said the key to arthritis is keeping them moving...
