Charles Owen 4star hat v Gatehouse

I thought the 4 star was to the same safety standard as the HS1? PAS 015 and ASTM F1163 and Snell E2001 I thought it was the pro ll that wasn't as safe as the HS1? :/ I was going to get the 4 star for my daughter because it's safer and she has an oval shaped head.

Gatehouse HS1 Hats - Any good?

Everyone is saying you need the right head shape. But not what shape that is. Does anyone know? Are the Gatehouse HS1 for more round shaped heads or more oval and what is the difference between the Gatehouse RXC1 shape wise? My daughter is going of to an equine collage, so it's time for a new...

what are your views on the chifney bit?

It's just left hanging. it's not used to ride in. they have both the chifney and a normal bit in at the same time. I'm not a fan :(

what are your views on the chifney bit?

I've seen a lot leave the chifney on racers. They use them to lead the exited horse out, but just leave it loose in the mouth for the race and use a bit that's also in the mouth. So it's double bitted really. Not a fan at all.

Training plan for a newly broken 5yo?

I would never think about doing that much schooling with a newly backed horse or one that's just starting out green. A horse needs to grow mentally, work things out and gain confidence. Not asking too much more of them. It also needs to have fun while being ridden. My horse trainer says only...

Treed or treeless (for young horse)?

I was looking at buying this EASYTREK treeless for my youngster. I know its not expensive. But it looks good. Plenty of spine clearance and it's good for short backed horses. I have a budget, so can't go mad on price. What do you think...

How do you keep a stallion? Stabling etc?

I found this post very interesting and helpful. I posted myself, on keeping my horses in a mixed heard with another mare and stallion (both gentle natured). The comments where quite different and less positive. Although I am concerned about my horses safety. This post gives me a most more...

Keeping a Stallion with two mares and a gelding.

It's all sorted! We had a good talk today. She still really would like them to run together. But I've said we need to work together and that means sometimes having to bend a little. I asked why it was so important to her to have them all together and that it wasn't a problem to keep them in...

Keeping a Stallion with two mares and a gelding.

Hi Tristar, Thank you for your good advice. I remember visiting my little mare when she was 4 weeks old at the stud I got her from. The lady who owned the stud was very knowledgeable and I learned a lot from her in the months before my mare was ready to leave her mom. She told me the same thing...

Keeping a Stallion with two mares and a gelding.

Would there be any risk in riding by the field on the road or will he be focused on his mare he will be sharing his field with?

Keeping a Stallion with two mares and a gelding.

Crappymare. If they get a foal from their mare they will be very happy as they want to breed her to him. So it would be only one unwanted foal. My mare absolutely can not get into foal with him. Even if he did manage to mount her, she would probably get very injured because of his size.

Keeping a Stallion with two mares and a gelding.

Maybe he will turn out to be fine though as he will have his mare with him to distract him. My only other option would be to turn mine out in the day and turn him out at night. Or the other way round. That might work? Don't really want to do that though. We both want minimum stabling. But we...
