Not so much a question, more of a pondering, but as we end the winter, we always have our turn-out rugs washed, repaired and re-proofed. They generally cost about £25-28 each. With the cost of new rugs being nowadays so reduced, I'm wondering if it isn't just simpler to buy new ones...

How little you understand the thinking process of an animal. That's rubbish. Were any animal capable of the thought processes which would spell out the concept of death to them, then they would, as would most humans, acquiesce and abandon flight.
