I was hoping for some general advice on fly-proofing Jilguera, my Andy mare, since she's recently been turned out with the other mares in a relatively large field with very long grass (she needed to put on some weight anyway :) )
I soon realised the need to buy her a fly mask, so have done so...
I'd like to add that the bridle has matching rubber grip reins (also with white stitching), and I have a slight suspicion that it may have come from Spain... If that helps anyone to identify it? Thanks again x
Thanks for more information on it - I've tried reading up, but it's nice to get more straight forward facts in context (: Usually during the summer most of my yard is turned out 24/7, so pretty sure that this will apply to Jiggy too (:
As she isn't particularly used to the turnout, I don't know...
I agree that Badger and Caffrey are cool names, Starbucks (:
Because "Jilguera" is too long for general use, she's been nicknamed Jiggy. I'm desperately trying to think of something to replace this annoyingness, but failing badly D: it's stuck!
Jiggy, my about-to-be-shared 5 year old Andalusian mare, seems to start chewing on wood in her stable and attempting to wind-suck sometimes when she is anxious or bored. As I am only at the yard 2 to 4 days a week, and she is sometimes not turned out for all of the others (I am not in control of...
Just moving my share/loan/thing from:
Secret (Lomond's Dark Secret) to
Jilguera (which means "goldfinch" in spanish)
(: love both and their names very muchly x
I'd emphasise the need for scissors (:
Sharp ones for trimming feathers, tail etc. always seems to be my problem.
Though you can probably get it when you're there, string/baling twine is very useful to have around (though you will need the scissors too!) (:
Hope you have fun!
I've recently started loaning a new horse, and the bridle she came with is black leather with white stitching, and a very interesting-looking flash/cavesson noseband. The make of the bridle was probably on the browband, but unfortunately this wasn't on the bridle!
I'd like to try and find...
