I had a similar issue with one of mine...he was fine up until he came back to more work from a winter of little riding. He would start of steady then just take off and go, thankfully I could eventually stop him! I began by not cantering at all and working on my trot transitions in the usual...

This is quite a clear representation. Sadly some drivers just don't think/see...i'm a cyclist too and have the same problem despite wearing high viz shorts and a backpack with "Think bike Think Biker"...
Just wondered what people think about wearing high viz throughout the year?
Personally in the winter I wear a head band and a tabard and my horse wears leg bands, a breast plate and sometimes a exercise rug (all high viz of course). In the summer I just wear my tabard and head band, nothing on...
I recently brought on a very green horse with the same problem. He did the most unexpected lunges to the side in canter. Thankfully I was never unseated but it did put me and subsequently him totally off balance, meaning he then rushed forwards in canter until I could bring him back together...

He has started headshaking I think since I changed his bit and it only happens after a time of me needing to use the bit as a stopping method or when he's been for a long hack, but I am the kind of rider that my instructor used to say "washing line reins"! Unless I need contact he has a loose...
I ride a 5 year old Arab x Welsh sec d. He was ridden in a full cheek snaffle but recently was changed to a French link. I have found he goes beautifully in it EXECPT for when he just wants to gallop! He doesn't listen to half halts or my positioning in the saddle and I hate having to pull at...
