    Problems with Tack up Ltd?

Hi there, has anyone else had problems with ordering from this company? I have not received my items for a long time and they don't answer e-mails or the phone? I know this has been posted about in the past - but wondered if anyone else had had problems with them recently and what they had done...

Silly question time - thinning scissors

Yea, chopping and then using the thinning scissors gives it a more natural edge, useful if your horse doesn't like the mane being pulled.

Silly question time - thinning scissors

I've never used a solo comb actually - are they any good? Any quicker? How do they work?

Silly question time - thinning scissors

Always use thinning scissors vertically. Cut only a small amount of the hairs in its grip - which it's designed to do anyway. Scissor up on the mane and then comb through as you go along. Always works best for me. Best to use after exercise - hairs come out more easily , less stress for the...

Advice Please - Discovered my new mare rears...

Yes definitely ditto the leading in hand! Again - you're in control on the ground and therefore in control of the situation. Also just remembered - don't use the whip. This really winds them up and you can get into the pattern of the horse rearing higher and higher. Try asking for leg yield to...

Advice Please - Discovered my new mare rears...

My horse used to nap and rear a lot. It's a nightmare but you just have to persevere and it sounds like you handled it really well. I actually think riding in company can make a horse more nappy so maybe try and avoid that for now - it reenforces the need to have horses around her but at the...

Canter problems with my 18 yr old

Hi. I'm having some problems schooling my horse and wondered if I could get some tips. My horse has recently (last three months) struggled with the transition from trot to canter on the right rein. She had a new saddle fitted recently and the problem hasn't gone away. Instead of just cantering...

Turning my mare out with geldings

I was just concerned about the possibility of them maybe fighting over her. She's in season at the mo as well. Really stupid question but do geldings still get horny? Lol

Turning my mare out with geldings

Hi there. Ive recently had to move my mare into a field with two young geldings because when she was turned out with a group of mares at the yard she was getting bullied. My mare (having said that) is quite dominant and clashed with another dominant mare in that group. I've turned her out with...

    comments please

I get someone else to school her for me twice a week which has really helped but can't really afford lessons at the mo, so that is why I've put off competing .

Thanks - still a way to go I think, but want to maybe do a dressage test on her soon.

    comments please

Hi - this is my horse Caff , just wanted to have some comments on her - what people think etc. Been working very hard to try and get her fit, but not sure if she's at her ideal weight yet or not. Think her canter still needs a lot of work but let me know. Hope I'm allowed to post this here...

changing a horse's name - is it really bad luck?

Not really, unless the horse responds already to that name or comes when that name is called.

Beginning to think my horse has OCD lol, she jumps sideways and runs backwards if a gate that is "normally" shut is mysteriously left open!

At what *C would you say it is cold enough for a HW turnout?

My horsey is out during the day in a HW full neck, but she's nearly 16 and is prone to losing weight, and she is a wuss, and she is clipped. So yea, depends on the horse and weather is changeable to be honest.

    clipping and straight lines!

lol I went for a hunter clip this year but it looks terrible as I just got it so wrong. It looks different either side, that now I'm contemplating taking it all off. Would this be wise ? To be fair it was the first time I had clipped. She's in a rug covering it all up so I don't have to think...

Ok- another question, this time mud fever

I personally wouldn't clip the legs if your horse is out because of the protection it gives, but I do see your point about seeing what's going on and making life easier, so the boots would be the way forward. I'd just watch that the boots don't rub. This would also help the legs from getting wet...

    Spooky horse

eyes - good point. She does a lot of stoping to look at things. When jumping, she sometimes stops to look to see if the pole has gone up and then cat leaps it! Yes she does it in the field and on the ground as well.
  23. T

What rugs are yours in at the moment? (If clipped!)

Full clip. She's in a heavy weight in the field during the day,in at night after schooling in a snug warm mark todd under rug, if very cold a stable rug on top.

    Spooky horse

My horse is fab in every way, but she has got real issues with her shadow. I know this sounds really stupid but it is becoming a real problem. It starts with her blowing and snorting and bending her ear down towards her shadow and then she becomes really silly and panics. She has bolted out on...

I think Hi Viz should be law...

In my case, I was actually driving slowly anyway. But I see your point, there are a lotof bad drivers out there. Was sad to read the other post about the horse.

I think Hi Viz should be law...

Another time, had this guy not been wearing a red jumper he could have been squished by my landrover. Not a nice thought, and it scares me a lot. It would be better if it were made mandatory.

I think Hi Viz should be law...

Definitely agree totally, was driving home the other night (it is a country lane) and if these dog walkers hadn't been wearing hi viz I would never have seen them. It scared the life out of me, I slowed immediately when seeing the hi viz, but it wasn't until up close did I actually see them...
