Potential sharer for my horse - being a bit bossy already

Sorry it didn't work out. Thats what I am afraid of. Extra stress is something I really want to avoid at all costs. I am too tired!

Potential sharer for my horse - being a bit bossy already

You are making some big assumptions there. Hardly stringing her along, only mentioned it a few days ago! She wasn't looking either. Nasty post.

Potential sharer for my horse - being a bit bossy already

Yes! Thats totally it. I would prefer to be doing it myself. I am going to have a good long think. I realise I am lucky to potentially have someone so enthusiastic. I am pretty good at sticking to a routine, and prefer things that way, something too flexible would stress me out...

Potential sharer for my horse - being a bit bossy already

That is helpful, thanks. I would feel better with a proper agreement, then everything is down in black and white and we know where we stand. Did you write your own agreement?

Potential sharer for my horse - being a bit bossy already

I am trying to figure out if its my gut or my reluctance to relinquish control. And maybe a bit of jealousy as she is braver than me and is planning all the things she wants to do with my horse.

Potential sharer for my horse - being a bit bossy already

I don't intend to sell him, no. Which I have told her. I hope to have more time once my little girl is a bit older. I suppose I just need to get used to the idea, I am feeling a bit rushed, so just need to put the brakes on a bit. I am going to try and focus on the positives. I got on him again...

Potential sharer for my horse - being a bit bossy already

I am thinking of getting a sharer for my horse as he is not doing much at the moment and I have lost my confidence as he was a bit nappy when I first bought him. Its a girl I know and she is very keen, but its freaking me out a bit as I feel like she is rushing me and I want to take it slowly...

A strange but slighty delicate issue!

Oh, I know, I often fished out a fair sized bean from my gelding. I meant elusive in as much as a lot of people don't know they exist, let alone where to find it! I am always met with looks of horror when I mention having to remove it! 😄

Could it have been the elusive 'bean'?

I think it might be because I have ridden in a barefoot for nigh on ten years now, so traditional saddles make my bum ache just looking at them!

    Treeless saddles - recommendations please

And my existing barefoot I use a barefoot pad. It doesn't have the vps system as I did try one of those a few years ago, my horse spooked at a bunny, the saddle slipped right round and deposited me on the floor! My old type cheyenne doesn't budge at all, but does seem to leave pressure point...

I did read your review of the Ghost, Kaiser, a shame it didn't suit for you. It sounds like such a good saddle. I am going to trial one in a couple of weeks, and I am hoping it'll do the job. I am do like the tree free saddles, I phoned them yesterday and left a message. I like the fact that...

    Treeless saddles - recommendations please

There is a solution saddle on ebay for sale, not sure how the sizes work out though. Can you jump in them? There are also two mondials for sale, they look just like traditional saddles. They are not made any more but in the descrition are touted as the best treeless saddle you can get! A...

    Treeless saddles - recommendations please

I have been a long time Barefoot saddle user, I have had a Cheyenne for years. But I am looking to get something I can jump in. Plus my Cheyenne is an older style and I think the stirrup leather rings are causing pressure points on my horse's back. I am interested in the Ghost saddle, its...

Can't face looking for my soul mate again

Thank you everyone for your kind words and advice. I feel so confused and odd. I adored him and I can't process how I feel. I nearly lost him 2 years ago and the pain was horrendous, our bond was intensified due to the trauma we went through together. Now I just feel numb and confused. I don't...

Can't face looking for my soul mate again

Just a pity post really. Lost my superstar cob 2 weeks ago and I feel bereft without him. I think I am still in shock as I just feel numb when I think about him. Really want another horse but the prospect of trying to find another like him fills me with dread. I found him through here, as a...

    Riding whilst pregnant

I rode up until 37 weeks pregnant. I would have rode for longer but had my baby at 38 weeks before I got the chance to ride again! Was back in the saddle 7 weeks after baby was born. My horse looked after me and is a sensible chap. I felt totally at ease riding him whilst pregnant. In fact...

Motorised Wheelbarows - anybody use one?

I have a mucktruck, used it today in fact, three barrow loads of poo out of my field, effortlessly! Its awesome, a bit loud, but awesome. Brilliant in really muddy conditions and rutted ground. It has three forward gears and reverse too. You have to lift it slightly to change direction as it...

Keeping horse fit when you can't ride

I would turn him out. I was lucky and was riding up to 37 weeks. My baby is now 7 weeks old and I am back riding again, but only sporadically. I have a chunky cob too and he has put on a bit of weight, but even just riding him a handful of times has already started to make a difference.

    Your experiences of concussion...

It took me over a month to get over my concussion. Everything would spin like I was drunk. My brain had swollen a little and it was effecting my balance. It was a horrible feeling and I found the best place for me was in bed. Wishing you a fast recovery, take care of yourself.

would you let a pregnant friend ride your horse?

Wow, this thread got a bit tedious. I have had probably a few drinks in the total time of my pregnancy so far. Mostly at social occasions and it has been one glass and thats it. No one around me batted an eyelid. I have read studies about alcohol in pregnancy and from what I have ascertained...

would you let a pregnant friend ride your horse?

I am still riding my horse at 36 weeks, but he is sensible, although will spook at a pheasant! I personally wouldn't let a pregnant woman ride my horse as I know him inside out and I couldn't guarantee that he wouldn't spook. And I hate others riding him anyway, with the exception of my...

    Confidence is a fickle thing!

I had confidence issues after owning a flighty ex-racer and then a rodeo cob! I now have a wonderful irish cob who has given me my confidence back in spades - we have been together now for 4 years and I have done more with him than I ever did with the other two. He can have his moments, but...

Being honest if new owner contacts you.

Yes, thats what I mean. As far as I know he might have never bucked with her and now I have told her what he was like with me, and his previous reputation, it might ruin her enjoyment of the horse. I don't know. Hope she is enjoying him, he just needed a really confident and firm rider who...

Being honest if new owner contacts you.

I did wonder that, but she said that he was the perfect gentleman - so maybe he has changed his ways?! And yes, I would always be honest - I sold a TB years ago and was blisteringly honest in my advert and he went to a great girl who was under no illusions that he was an easy horse. But I have...
