Charging the leisure battery in the horsebox

Thanks for the advice everyone.... I was just worried I was missing something really simple and not flicking the right switches to get it to charge properly.... but sounds like it needs replacing, so will get it looked at this week.

Charging the leisure battery in the horsebox

Can someone give me an idiot proof guide? The battery has always charged off the lorry battery whilst driving and not been a problem. A few months ago the lorry battery was flat and I had to get someone out to start it. I did a few short journeys after that so didn't switch the water/light...

Area Festival 2nd rounds question and a bit of frustration!

Well I've managed to wangle the Friday afternoon off work prior to Morris running so doesn't look out of the question for me to go now! :-)

Area Festival 2nd rounds question and a bit of frustration!

Ok thanks everyone..... so the conclusion is I've definitely qualified but am unable to attend MG at the amended date, so now just have to decide if want to make a trip up to sunny Scotland :-)

Area Festival 2nd rounds question and a bit of frustration!

Ah ok thanks. That's good to know.... I was thinking I hadn't heard as I hadn't got a good enough score

Area Festival 2nd rounds question and a bit of frustration!

At least overnight (hopefully) the traffic wouldn't be too bad I guess..... its definitely worth a bit more thought. Will have to check when the entry closes and make a decision as late as I can get away with! And maybe plead for a late time! Has anyone else had confirmation from either BD or...

Area Festival 2nd rounds question and a bit of frustration!

It does look fairly direct on the motorway.... its just I'm at work til 6pm Friday and so guess would end up travelling in the early hours of Saturday.... in theory could stay over Saturday night then travel back the following day to break up the driving but both me and the horse would be fairly...

Area Festival 2nd rounds question and a bit of frustration!

Ok thanks for that info.... It was Manor Grange I was intending going to .... but does look like its the date of 21/22nd as per the BD website and not 7/8th as listed on Petplan.... which clashes with the camp.... the next closest for me would be up in Scotland at Morris which would be a fair...

Area Festival 2nd rounds question and a bit of frustration!

Oh thank you for clarifying that.... so actually looks like I missed out by 0.2% :-/ but at least I don't have to face 10h of driving I guess! (And yes this was at novice) still think they need to clarify the date and update whichever site is wrong tho as I doubt I'm the only one that's affected...

Area Festival 2nd rounds question and a bit of frustration!

I'm a bit confused as to whether I've definitely qualified or not! We attended the 1st rounds in June and came 7th with a fairly average score of 62.8%. The venue we attended said this was a qualification for the 2nd rounds and yet I've had no correspondence from BD or Pet Plan to confirm this...

Supplement - What Do You Use And Why?

Both of mine get micronized linseed and Pro-hoof. One of them gets additional salt as she won't use a lick.

    Micklem bit straps?

I had exactly the same problem with mine.... micklem sent me longer straps but even then I couldn't get it to fit properly with the full cheek (plus I like to use keepers on the full cheek. It fits perfectly with an egbutt.

Do we amateurs overcomplicate things for ourselves? :p

Slightly off topic (but will admit to being the worst over-thinker ever).... but on the subject of varying work..... I was based at a livery yard that had excellent facilities and yet the hacking was rubbish.... which meant that my horses did a fair amount of work in the school.... I moved them...

    PetPlan Area Festival

One of the judges appreciated the situation and commented 'what a shame she wasn't on side today. Not your day' The other two commented as if that was the way I intended to ride to the test so yes pretty much! I was like.... I worked my backside off to qualify so surely it must be obvious this...

My first crack at the regionals, my horse was so freaked out by the venue that we were cantering in the free walk lol.... and at one point thought we were going to jump the arena doors :-o

    Hi Viz waterproof rugs

Yes thanks the link works perfectly :-) I've looked at those also, do you find the bit that wraps around the front restrictive at all? There seems to be a few like that on the market and do see that it helps to make you more visible to on coming traffic, but worried it might rub???

    Hi Viz waterproof rugs

Wow thanks everyone, there's loads more options out there than I thought. I'm not sure I could use the ones that attach behind the saddle to the girth straps as I have a monoflap saddle so would only be able to attach it at the bottom I think.... but certainly got a lot more to choose from than...

    Hi Viz waterproof rugs

Haha it definitely isn't sweat from them being too hot, and I wouldn't hack on the roads without Hi-viz after having a horse hit by a car many years ago. The 'polite' one is a breathable mesh type material which is ideal for sunny days, but when its tipping down with rain its absolutely soaked...

    Hi Viz waterproof rugs

Can anyone recommend a good quality Hi Viz exercise sheet that is waterproof but suitable for using in the summer? All the waterproof ones I've found are generally fleece lined which will be too hot for use in the summer. I have a 'polite' one that I use at the minute, but with the horrible rain...

Just wondering if anyone can enlighten me how to wipe the SD card on a mac computer? I think I've done it correctly. Its just the SD card fills up really quickly (before the end of the hack usually!)

    Help!! Horse tanks at jumps!

I would literally start with a pole on the ground. Approach in walk and make him halt a few strides in front.... then walk over the pole in a straight line then halt afterwards still in a straight line..... do this ad nauseum until he's anticipating the halt at the far side. Then progress to...

    BS membership

I'd have a look on the website and see how many venues run club near you. I'm lucky to have a few venues and the odd category 1 show that also run them.... but I think some areas don't run so many.... but I think you can still do so many national classes per year as a club member without using a...

Why did you first go barefoot / what do you do with your horse?

I have 2 horses, both barefoot. Dee has been barefoot for about 2 years. She had very neglected feet when I got her. Very underrun, thin soles, poor frogs, white line disease and a crack in the toe of the right fore. I took her barefoot because she never kept shoes on for >4wks anyway and kept...

    BS membership

What height are you planning on doing? And what are you aiming for? Hoof boot help for wide feet

Dee has wider than long feet and after discussion with the very helpful lady at the hoof boutique we narrowed it down to either renegades or cavallo simples, but I was advised to go for the cavallos because they give a little more leeway for the feet changing in size (dee's have got bigger...

    Club show-jumping finals Stoneleigh

Has anyone been? I've qualified for 2 classes and its in 'arena C'..... does anyone know if this is a grass arena? I've never jumped this particular horse on grass and so would either have to get a great deal of practice in before going or give it a miss as its a very long way for me to go...
