    Older horse becoming nervous :/

Our horse is 28 and still going strong (competed at Olympia at Christmas) and really healthy. About 4 years ago he really started to look at things, and we think his eyesight is becoming a little fuzzy. We just take our time with him and make sure he feels safe. Out hacking he does look at...

    Trailer buying rant

Me too. I asked the trailer weight and they said -How would I know that? err... Then I asked another how old the trailer was and they said they didn't know. Seriously do they expect me to pay good money. I eventually bought from a trailer dealership which turned out great as we got...

How did you learn to use your core?

Quite by accident really. Went to Pilates and that seemed to change things. Also rode without stirrups most of the time.

    Where has everyone gone?

I haven't posted for a long long time. Basically, lost Mickey in February this year. Husband gave me his show cob Shiney, and we've qualified for Olympia - Senior Showing Society. Shiney is 27 and still ridden. We also are SSDL National Prelim Dressge Champion, so what started a terrible year...

Horse won't stand still in trailer - kicking, biting and rearing!

We had allsorts of issues with loading and travelling. Why don't you leave half an hour earlier and when you get to the comp get her out the trailer and take her for a wallk around so that she can see where she is then put her back in. We have one that will stand in the trailer but if he...

Am I wrong to be annoyed?

Lesson learnt. I paid £2000 for an operation on my knee several years ago as the national health said I could wait 18 months but a private surgeon said my knee needed attention straight away. I wasn't insured and the owner of the horse said she wasn't covered for me, but she was happy for me...

    Still seriously out of pocket!

I'm in the same situation with Draycott. Only entered 80 as cheaper to run on a training ticket than do the 90 on a ticket - bit of a fun run. But I want my money back!! This really isn't making me want to join BE, think I will stick with BS and turn up when I want without having to hang...

A musing on dressage tests in bad weather conditions

I'm a low level competitor, but I'm riding almost every day in rain, sleet and snow - whatever the weather throws at me. I've got my first event in 3 weeks, my money is precious so I'm not having my horse strop because its raining and ruin the day, he will just have to get on with it. :)...

Those who Jump in glasses - advice needed

Sounds really positive for me that you can judge distances better in contacts. That's how this all started, me not being able to see striding until I was at the jump, by which time I could pop over, or be shockingly underneath it.

Those who Jump in glasses - advice needed

Thanks for all your replies. Have definately given me lots to think about. I like the idea of contact lenses protecting my eyes from being itchy, I didn't know that and will be off the the opticians to discuss trying them out. thanks again. :D

Those who Jump in glasses - advice needed

Have thought about contacts, but get such itchy eyes in summer I always think I wouldn't be able to wear them, but certainly something I could try. I have also been looking at straps to hold them on. Didn't consider what happens in the rain, which would really drive me mad, as I ride...

Those who Jump in glasses - advice needed

Well, I've known for a while I have been having problems focusing on the take off spot when jumping. So, tonight I jumped in my driving glasses. Well what a difference. I could actually see the jump and it made a big difference allround. Now I need some glasses to jump in. Do I just...

Junior jumping in the olden days

We jumped 4ft in unaff what they called intermediate and class on a 14.2. We always complained as they put the jumps down for horses as they weren't at the standard the 14.2's were. I also jumped 5ft in a higher and higher and retired at that as the ground was hard. Wouldn't do that now on...
