Hi Vis - Products with lights on?

Heres a couple i got my friend to take as i wanted to know how reflective the tape was that i bought and stuck on everything. Taken with a rubbish camera. Unfortunately i hadnt put my lights on the sheet or breastplate yet other than the single red light at the back so dont have pictures with...

Hi Vis - Products with lights on?

I used to hack through a housing estate to get onto a private off road track up to the moorlands and i made my own with ultra bright battery powered LED string lights, attached them with a couple of stitches to secure each light all the way round my sheet. The battery pack is small and i...

    PSSM crew - Vitamin E

Wonder whether a medicine syringe and bottle adapter might work for you? Rather than a different product entirely. I was just thinking along the lines of administering something like metacam where you just draw how many ml you need at a time out of the bottle entirely mess free (well until you...

    Interesting, nose net? head shaking?

I have an 'off and on' headnodder who also has nerve damage in his face and what started out as once every so often after he had yet another, bang to the head. It just got worse and after a lot of trying different things to try and work out why exactly, it turned out sunlight and...

    Horses in the field

Personally in your position, id be buying a couple of decent muzzles (may take a few to find the right one for the right horse) and start getting them used to them and eating through them now, rather than taking a risk with my horses legs through a fence like that. It doesnt take much to sever a...

Whilst horse women aren't known for tidy.. how you remove hair?!

I sometimes use a cat slicker brush to remove the worst, but mostly i just throw them in and hope i dont make the machine blow up! haha :D Im awful though and throw all sorts in the washer that i probably shouldnt! although some things do go in a pillow case if theres a certain person...

How much do you spend on feed per month?

Probably going to regret adding this up but here goes! :D 15.2hh TB Stressy lad and drops weight in winter, intolerant to alfalfa and cereals and has to have low starch and sugars which makes it a little more pricey! per day split between two feeds: 1kg of Agrobs Muesli so 2 bags a month at...

How many supplements do you feed?

I now feed Equimins Veteran Supp, Salt, tumeric and Linseed. When the Veteran supp runs out im going to switch him onto Advance complete as i like the specs more. Bit chomping

you could try a hanging cheek as its more stable in the mouth, My mare used to go nicely in a ported mullen mouth hanging cheek. You may have to play about a bit to see if it makes a difference, maybe borrow a couple of different types if you can to save spending and then the horse not getting...

    pony screaming and stomping

I know im in for some entertainment when he sees a new horse and does the 'dragon snort' haha! And yet he is so good with other horses, can put him in or next to anything and he never kicks or bites unless of course hes cornered or its in play.

    pony screaming and stomping

totally normal iv found, some horses do it, others just blow and show off, a new horse is very exciting! Darcy, my boy, goes through it all, he blows with neck arched looking rather proud, then he squeals and strikes out, sometimes more than once then he will take off round the field like a...

    pony screaming and stomping

Its just a greeting usually between horses meeting for the first time until they get to know each other. My boy does it and it usually lasts four to five days then he doesnt bother even greeting the new one xD Edited to add that the reaction isnt what id call aggressive at all, its not...

Moving horse from UK to Australia

I have clover rich grazing and its very potassium high so feed my boy magnesium and salt to make up for the imbalance it causes. Without it hes a lunatic, like leading out a half ton kite when the grazing is good. It may be worth giving it a go and see if it will help as its cheap to feed.

what nifty "trick" does your horse do?

Im quite jealous of all your horses abilities xD Mine has learnt to take his head collar off when hes tied up and bored by running the leadrope down his neck and over his ears. Doesnt go anywhere, i think he just does it to prove a point. Hes learnt that standing on the hosepipe stops the...

    Valentines Day delivery

Me and my partner dont really 'do' valentines day. We dont get each other prezzies or anything, instead we treat each other randomly through the year when we have the money, last month he did a days overtime and treated me to some Acavallo Opera stirrups to hopefully help my hip and ankle pain...

    Derby house

Over the last few months iv had three orders off them and they have been fab! The first order was a pair of boots and i waited ten days and no dispatch note so emailed them. They emailed straight back and apologized and they were with me the next day so i was happy with that. I also bought one...

    The psychology of rolling

My boy is a dedicated roller too, thankfully he is not a grey! He has his own mud patch to roll on, none of the other horses use his patch either and he isnt top of the pecking order, the two mares are above him, they seem to roll where ever but Darcy has his patch and uses it on every roll that...

D&H High Fibre Nuts or Mix?

Mine didnt like FF, took him off it and now hes on Soaked grass nuts and speedibeet instead, these meet his approval haha! I feed the Spearmint powder by Equimins, its very strong and i only need a tiny scoop. He refuses to touch his feed when i introduce magnesium powder in the spring and yet...

D&H High Fibre Nuts or Mix?

I wouldnt feed either of those, but to be fair i wouldnt feed any mix or 'cube' anyway. have you tried dried mint? my boy has to have a sprinking of spearmint powder if i add anything to his feed, then i wean him off it. Very cheaply available and lasts a long time. if it was just a choice of...

Cleaning box out when you change yards?

I always leave the stable clean, spotless and disinfected. On my current yard i had to clear the stable before using it as there was already a bed in which was filthy, i ended up putting my bedding down on a wet floor as id had to scrub it out with cleaner. YO did apologize, another livery had...

i bought a Brinicombe Herbilix for my boy last winter for his stable as its less than 8% sugar, he didnt lick it much but i put it down to the fact he has supplemented vits and mins in his feed as the other three horses, none of which were fed balancers or vits at all, loved it. Thinking of...

How are your bed's doing this winter?

My bed is looking fab, i have a big deep straw bed. I first had him on shavings but was going through 2-3 bales a week as it had to be perfect and totally clean. Moved onto pellets and although it did great at not moving and made a compact bed, i couldn't cope with how grubby looking it got...

    Horse keeps pushing me

My boy didnt like his face brushed. I also thought it was rudeness at first as he was an extremely reactive horse anyway and so i did a lot of pressure and release and he tolerated it but was never exactly happy. until i investigated and it turns out he has nerve damage in his face (as well as a...
