Should I hit the panic button?

Congratulations! I'm glad he's arrived safely and Mum and baby doing well. Looking forward to names and photos! Hope you get some rest (between hours of foal watching sessions)

    Kate Greenhalgh neglect

I'm utterly disgusted that she hasn't been treated more harshly and that she showed no remorse (assuming that to be true). What an absolute b*tch.

    Mctimoney versus physio

The Mctimoney definitely considers him holistically and is linking in with my vet about another issue he has so she can help him as much as possible. He does have some issues and will always have but I'm happy to work with him on those by reducing work as required and all this aims at keeping...

    Mctimoney versus physio

Interesting. I thought mctimoney was gentle but I was shocked by how sore he was after. But he is a delicate flower who doesn't know what stoic means! If it's sore he definitely tells everyone all about it and he would have been holding himself badly because of his hock soreness. I used...

    Mctimoney versus physio

In theory yes I could but I'm not sure that much therapy is needed. I can't totally understand the difference and didn't know if I am being thick! I know there is a difference but I'm not sure in what way that impacts my horse. The mctimoney was very good but I was surprised at how intensive it...

    Mctimoney versus physio

I'm a bit confused about the best person to use and the difference between the two options and would be grateful for any help. The background: I'm trying to keep my horse well and fit by giving him reasonably regular treatment with a view to helping him maintain as much straightness and...

    Kate Greenhalgh neglect

I've just read the comments (I'm local to this) and am wondering who her vet was as it is suggested they were involved/ complicit with the neglect? Unless I've misunderstood the comments - I hope I have!) Bloody awful that she has behaved like this, poor horses.

Should I hit the panic button?

Oh blimey! Sorry you're having such a challenging time, good job you're at the yard with an experienced YO. It's going to be a beautiful foal as Mum is gorgeous. Good luck xx

Should I hit the panic button?

Sorry that you're going through such a stressful time and fingers crossed for the vet visit today. Hoping that it's just spring grass belly 🀞😊

A fitted hi vis tabard with pockets...

V-bandz do one that's thin and has a good size pocket. Has velcro either side so you can adjust the fit (and make your horse spook if you adjust the velcro whilst wandering up the driveway on a loose rein 😁)

Owner wont provide an address for viewing

I think it would be sensible not to attend. It does sound extremely odd behaviour.

    Hock injections - steroid alternatives?

Useful thread OP, although sorry to hear you are going through this. Mine has just had his second steroid injections into his hocks and the vet has now suggested Tildren. It doesn't sound very nice so following everyone's input with interest. It seems like there are options of: Steroids Tildren...

    Ariat telluride

If you don't want to use them for riding, the skyline version are just for hiking? No idea if they have better grip than the Telluride but probably as comfortable 😊

Pictures Someone has a very important birthday tomorrow!

Thank you for the update JJS, what a gorgeous horse she has become. I can't believe it's 4 yrs and would love to see more updates as she starts out under saddle please. 😊

    Do I buy...

Yes, I have (had) two, one to wear one to wash 😁 when I had my GP saddle. Now need short girths and miss my stubborn cord ones, they are very good girths.

    Do I buy...

Of course! πŸ˜‰. I use a hay cube (for unsoaked hay) but have also used a hay bar. Both keep hay tidy is the corner so reduce it being used as bedding. Both have pros and cons but ultimately I like them. Just need to keep them clean. (hay bar should be attached high enough to clear out underneath)

    Do I buy...

Obviously every one should purchase all these essential items immediately! I was going to buy a VIP pad but instead bought a wow saddle πŸ’Έ. Also tempted by new stirrups for absolutely no good reason (the tred on my current sprengers need a good clean!) And also have considered the wide stirrup...

Who wants to see Finn (new boy)...?

It's a lovely photo, you both look very happy! You and Finn look great and you can see that your leg has just moved back so don't worry about it or be concerned about deleting it. He's gorgeous, hope you have lots of fun and keep us updated. Eta : saddles are a right PITA. Hope you both find...

    Best Hats

I used to be in an RXC but now have a CO pro 2 (round shape) it's nice enough but not as comfy as the rxc. I was advised that newer gatehouse aren't a similar fit to the rxc and I couldn't find anywhere to try gatehouse on. CO are easy to find everywhere!

I think I'll got with the fabric softener option first, thank you for your help people πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜

    Silicon knee patches -help!

Well there's an idea! Not sure I like the idea on all that stick on the inside but then I could talc on the inside 😊. I should have just spent more on one's without silicon I think!

    Silicon knee patches -help!

Thanks for the replies so far!! I did ponder putting talc on the silicon but maybe I could get black wound powder as they are black tights? πŸ€”πŸ˜†. They are by perform equine, Β£30 a pair and very nice if you want your knees stuck to your saddle! I did think they would be good for a spook 😁 I'll go...

    Silicon knee patches -help!

I have some really nice riding tights ready for warmer weather. They weren't expensive so I thought they would be woryh a try. Tried them the other day in my jumping lesson and was really struggling to get my lower legs on because the silicon was sticking my knee to the saddle. I thought I could...

    Advise appreciated

Last horse was put down in 2000 and I stopped with horses until 2014. I went to a riding school initially and must have remembered a reasonable amount as I was offered a horse share with one of the livery horses after 4 (?) lessons. Continued with weekly lessons and one other day a week sharing...

    Talk to me about

Just had a quick look and unfortunately they don't appear to have a Scottish flag available so you'll probably have to make your own!! I like the look of these and would like something lighter than my current irons but what is safe about these? I can't see anything that suggests any safety...

    XC Woes

Mine likes to inspect jumps in great detail but we've been having many, many lessons and as mentioned above, he goes over no matter what, from a standstill and we've been doing small jumps so there is nothing too difficult. I was allowed to growl at him today as he wasn't scared just needed me...

What’s the most embarrassing thing your horse has done

Mine snorted very loudly (danger snort with tail flagged up over his back) at a mum and her two sons who had been jogging. He'd got over excited about following them on our hack (he likes following people) and as they turned to go back the way they had come he stopped dead and did a huge loud...

    Saddle dilemma WWYD

I would stick with your current saddle and order the one that you want, with 🀞🏻that it turns up earlier than expected. Buying an interim saddle would just be spending money for no reason and you might as well go for the one you love. Delayed gratification is a thing isn't it? Albeit very...
