    What would you do?

I'm in tears writing this so I'll try and make sense! My 11yr old dog went down hill very rapidly, she was still coming out hacking with us up until last Friday. She is now very lathargic, has lost 2.5kg in 10days, can't walk too far and is obviously not very well. We took her to the vets...

Since wednesday my horse hasn't wanted to eat his hard feed, he will quite happily eat grass (out 24/7), apples, carrots, mints, bread..etc but will not eat his hard feed, I have changed nothing since Christmas. I have ordered a bag of Havens feed that is supposed to help with appetite, but...

I'm getting all excited about the being able to compete properly !! My YO has said I can ride and compete her horse whenever I want as she just doesn't have the time (it's a new yard and opens properly in September!). I have lost alot of weight since I last competed and my cream breeches are far...

    Gucci Master - Paris

I got invited to go to the Gucci Masters last Friday. Was very very good fun :) But one thing that stood out was Luciana Diniz's 'bridle' !! I was wondering how many riders would attempt to jump their horse round a pretty huge and complicated 1m50 track with just a snaffle in the horses...

18 days - excited and nervous!

It's now becoming real!! I'll start at the begining... 1st September 2009, it was pouring with rain, thunder and lightning but I still decided to go out and into the field and see him. He was galopping about bucking and playing like a normal 18month old. My heart said YES, head said no as...

Decent breeches, good budget for new pair!

I'm looking for at least one new pair of breeches. I have a decent budget so want good ones. However all the pikeur/anky..etc breeches seem to be better if you have long slim legs. Which I definatly don't. I have quite short legs with pretty muscly thighs. I'm a 28 with short chunky legs :)...

Livery - what would you expect to pay?

Just wondering what you would expect to pay for: Full livery (stables poo picked twice a day, mucked out fully once a week unless more needed, and you pick up a poo if there is one in the stable) Feeding : 3 times a day or whatever you require! Individual T/O, they turn out and bring back...

    I was thinking today...

I have just met someone who spent 20 000€ on a 6yr old who was supposed to be able to jump 1m40 + classes, well he is now 11 and he does 1m05/1m10 classes. I was shocked when she told me how much she paid for him. I was really shocked, and basically he will jump one or two at 1m30 but wont go...

The good, The bad and The down right ugly! Lessons Learned *pics*

Lessons learned : * The calmer that H is on DEFINATLY works! * When I think I need to give him a syringe I need to DO IT!! * H is not allowed to have too many days off at grass as he turns into a monster! * If I'm ill I still have to do something with him as noone else will/can!! * H is NOT...

    Decisions...Decisions...Decisions!

I'm posting this to get everyones opinion :D As I'm not sure what to do! My horses are all kept at home. All we have is a field to school in so not ideal, but I can't do anything about it until we can afford to put a school in! My problem is I can't school on it in winter, and the other...

    What could I get for...

If I had 4000/5000 to spend on a horse what could I get? Don't mind age at all. Foal, yearling, 2yr old, 3yr old..etc! It would be sent to a professional if my trainer didn't have a school by the time it was ready to be broken! I don't really mind about what height it would make, mare or...

I think we are finally getting it!

After my posts about 'seeing a stride' and being told not to think about seeing a stride I think we have finally cracked it. I had another lesson yesterday (no.4 this the week!), and it went really really well. We worked again on getting our canter really really bouncy, and then lengthening...

'seeing a stride' - update and a thankyou!

Thanks to everyone who replied yesterday. My trainer came again today to give me another lesson (basically we are having a huge boot camp, so she is coming 3 or 4 times a week for the next month!). We did poles, walk, trot and canter poles placed all around the field. First thing we did...

seeing a stride - help please!

Arghh - good and bad day!

I think this is going to be long :o Sorry! On Monday I got a call from a professional Showjumper (who knew I was looking for work experience last year, and he's very close - 10mins down the road, and my mum works at the chateau where the yard is...so it's pretty perfect!), well he phoned to...

Chestnut Circus Clown Goes Canoeing (ODE)

OK well maybe not...but we did do an ODE in a thunderstorm yesterday!! It was our first outing of the year (after injury) and he was AMAZING!!! :D :D :D We did 2 dressage tests (it was unaffiliated and they were running dressage on the same day; he's fit enough and I wanted to get back into...

A Change of Bit, and A New Found Confidence...

...Makes such a difference! I was starting to feel at a loss as couldn't hold him into a jump, and we kept messing up the striding and getting in too close or taking off too early! My RI suggested we take off the martingale and change his bit (it's a bit difficult with him as he doesn't like...

    Could she do dressage?

OK so I know shes a big heavy cob, but looking at these pics I was pleasantly surprised by her 'floaty-ness'! What do you think? With a bit (or a lot) of schooling could she do dressage? My favorite! So what do you think - no comments about saddle...have just...
