New Puppy - Pics attached :-)

Venevidivici sorry for the loss of your dog to cancer... They do break our hearts. Puppy (I'll call him that for now) is already noticeably different, and I suspect is going to be quite naughty :D He's also quite vocal when he wants things - food, attention etc, so I think they're going to...

Funnily enough, Brian, Dexter & Bear have all been on the list... I shall report in when they've made their mind up. Thankfully when you walk anywhere he's hot on your heals and runs in / through your legs. He just soooooo cute & cuddly - when you cuddle him his tail goes like the clappers...

I think it's a bad angle, he's not really that porky - but he had just eaten, and the pic came out like this, so I had to post because it was so funny :-)

    Puppy or rescue dog?

Thanks BBH - He is rather cute :-) Regards rescues, Northwest Labrador Rescue are very good http://www.homealabrador.net/ I was going to re-home a lab through them, & was prepared to foster oldies, but events have overtaken me at present so my lab will remain an only child for now...

Yes - I like Dumble too, as do the rest of the family, and my mum, but my step dad doesn't so said no :-( I suspect the debate is going to rumble on :-D And yes, will post more pictures as he grows. He's going to be a big boy having met his half brother Clarence, who at 8 months is just...

Hen Experts - please help !

For Broody hens, as a previous poster said, we use a dog crate propped off the floor so its the wire bottom they stand on. They are kept alone in our feed room with corn and water. Usually takes 2-3 days to get rid of the broodiness. We call it the sin bin :)

    New puppy - reassurance needed!

Thanks for posting OP - my parents collected their new Bull Mastiff pup at 8 weeks of age yesterday. He's her 5th, and whilst very settled and chief yesterday, howled at bed time. Thud ignored him, but he started again at 2am so moved him to the bedroom (must to my shock as they've always had...

    EHV

A&C, the outbreak started in Gloucestershire. I knew little about EHV, but have taken the time to educate myself. It would be sensible if everyone could take a little time to read up on the subject, take precautions and monitor their horses/ponies - especially as there have been a few cases of...

DIY/Part Livery in Leeds - help please :)

Wikefield Farm run by Barbara Harrison-Bland has an indoor school, great hacking and room for your trailer. Not the cheapest, but a great location just on from The Leeds Grammar school roundabout. There is also a yard in the area, but don't know the name of it. The Harewood combined training...

RIP young lady. Just how could it happen?

Thanks BBH, the puppies are from an accredited breeder who breeds for temperament. My mums knows the breed, having had 4 prior to this puppy, and never had a bad one. She's a fit 67, and the breeder has already put her in touch with some decent puppy training groups, and would like her to show...

    Blue Chip and EHV!!

Apparently the Scottish horse that was at Myerscough has been confirmed as having EHV1 strain... About time everyone stopped competing for 3-4 weeks, before it escalates

RIP young lady. Just how could it happen?

It's awful... The Daily Fail are sensationalising as usual. They do however have pictures of a litter of pups the owner was selling last year from Facebook - sorry but says it all. They shot 2x Staffies, the Bull Mastiff & an American Bulldog which are not always the most reliable IMO. It's...

    Blue Chip and EHV!!

The owner of the horse from Aberdeen has been on the Forum... They are waiting for confirmation as to which strain the horse has, and are now on lockdown with all other horses being tested. The Animal Health trust are trying to keep an updated list of outbreaks, but because its not a noticeable...

    Blue Chip and EHV!!

There's definitely a confirmed case on the Dressage yard - the yard owners name is mentioned on the BD thread, and he's been very open about it. I think one has been PTS, and they are nursing a number is sick horses - I don't believe they are the source of the outbreak and by all accounts, it's...

****Important***** AHT advice on dealing with EHV outbreak

Here's the latest from a thread on BD forum... I'm amazed people are happy to compete at the moment - I just don't think it's worth the Risk, as its the Paralytic form which can be fatal. One of the horses PTS was on a Dressage yard and none of them had been anywhere near the hunt RE...

    Blue Chip and EHV!!

As a further point, one of the horses PTS belongs to a BD forum member, and none have been hunting, but share hacking routes etc. I cannot believe that this is not a hot topic, as its going to get worse before it gets better :(

    Blue Chip and EHV!!

Multiple threads on British Dressage forum - it is the paralytic form which can be fatal :( I gather two horses had been PTS already - one on a Pro Dressage yard This is an update in terms of how some of it has been spread taken from a thread today RE: Equine herpes in Glos This came...

Demodectic mange - tell me all

My lab got a 50p sized bald patch on her nose at 18 months - skin scrapes diagnosed demodectic mange. Bloods were done to check immune system, and I was given 'Aludex' to treat the patch - I was lucky, as if it had been bigger I would have had to treat with a full bath. It cleared up, and has...

    badminton

Well I stand to be corrected Tyson... Not trying to irritate anyone, however I'd be more than a little irritated if my horse caught EHV1 through contact via another horse who caught it out competing - wasn't the point if my post though.

LEC - to clarify, meant the part about airborne transmission. Agree with everything else your vet said :)

EHV virus & competing (confirmed cases - Gloucestershire)

This was posted on the BD forum... From an EHV fact sheet. Goes against your vets thoughts LEC??? Personally I think this is going to mushroom... There are suggestions of a case in. Warwickshire & Northampton today, however that is not substantiated yet. 'EHV-1 is contagious and spread by...
