Why own a Warmblood when you could have an Iberian?

PREs in action, how can I resist :o This is my homebred (the first papered Tres Sangres bred in the UK) at the sidesaddle champs as a 6yo, she had only been ridden ss for around 8 weeks, won her class and also Best Newcomer. and in dressage mode Sirena dressaging and...

Why own a Warmblood when you could have an Iberian?

Doh, meant to say the same thing, OP you are the one being judgemental! Also meant to add that when I take my girls out, I do not get looked down upon in the slightest, quite the opposite tends to happen and people want to know more about them. Makes me think the OP is very young and not...

Why own a Warmblood when you could have an Iberian?

TBH in all the years I have had them (20+) I have not come up against people pre judging them, or perhaps it is that I could not give a **** about what other people think, my horses compete and the prejudice now is not nearly as much as it was back then, in fact more and more people want them...

Why own a Warmblood when you could have an Iberian?

PRE or Luso x warmblood - usually the best of both worlds

Why own a Warmblood when you could have an Iberian?

I have 5 Iberians and I have to agree with the poster who said that not all are kind, trainable and easy going. Iberians are trainable no doubt about it and they tend to be intelligent, BUT they are also sensitive and not everybody's cup of tea. Each horse is an individual and horses for...

Why own a Warmblood when you could have an Iberian?

Really?? The opposite is actually true. makes me wonder just what Iberians you have seen tbh. Are you honestly saying that Fuego for instance is not 'flashy' enough to compete? The mind boggles.

    PRE horses for dressage

Hi PRE welcome Love your boys! Are you planning on standing them at stud over here? Have you been in contact with BAPSH here in the UK, they would love to have you as a member! There are several stallions here now but there are more and more geldings too, stallions are not so readily...

Hmmm just remembered why I don't come on here much anymore

Nope 'someone' def pointed it out to him and on the grounds that they are supposedly 'scanned' (they're not btw - I have the electronic copies) they have been removed and I have an infraction :( I wonder how many scanned photos there were on that thread?

Hmmm just remembered why I don't come on here much anymore

Some little busy body pressed the button on my post in 'Show us your competition horses' on the grounds that these were professional photos, i now have an infraction! The fact that I have full permission to use the one, admittedly professional photo, is not the point, nor it seems the fact...

    Iberian/Spanish horses honesty please!pro's cons

The only problem I ever had with other people handling my horses was with the aforementioned filly from hell, I had a livery here (never again!) who in return for me doing her horse in the mornings, brought mine in at night (I only had three then :o ), the filly, then a 2yo, who had settled...

Opinions on this potential horse for dressage please....

I actually know this horse, he belongs to a friend of mine, he has already gained well over 60%. He is a very well bred horse who has also been a National Champion - that alone dictates a price tag. He also recently qualified for the Spanish Championships in Seville.

    Iberian/Spanish horses honesty please!pro's cons

I have had PRE's for nearly 20 years, have bred a couple and compete my mares regularly. I have both British and imported, the British bred one is the horse in my Avatar (Sirena) and she is definitely my horse of a lifetime. I bought her from a British breeder as a weanling and she is now 13 -...

Showing (foreign breed and iberian) help....!?!?!

Sorry to read about his suspensory SN, if it is any consolation Sirena did a front one earlier this year, she had shockwave and cartrophen injections weekly for a month and then box rested for another month - she is now back in full work, albeit six months later. As for saddles, I would...

Showing (foreign breed and iberian) help....!?!?!

No prob SpanishNeddy am glad you found it useful:D The criteria for the GBPRE Show was more stringent than the Breed Champs, it was much more in line with ANCCE (the Spanish governing body) rules, for instance, mares in my section had to have had 3 foals or have produced a foal in the last 3...

Showing (foreign breed and iberian) help....!?!?!

Spanish showing is a little different to 'normal' showing in that there are two parts, the morphology (conformation) part and functionality (ridden) part. In the morphology you have to show your horse on a circle, ie, you do 4 circles in canter and then extend the trot to the other end of the...

has anyone competed in young dressage horses classes? opinions on them please...

I did them on Sirena and ditto felt a little out of place amongst all the humungous warmbloods, but she beat a fair few of them. I say do it, it is good experience for you and your horse :)

    BAPSH Champs Hartpury

Sorry to drag this up again but I just had to share! My fab mare competed at the GBPRE International Show this weekend, and she won her class! This means that she has qualified for SICAB which is the spanish equivalent of HOYS. So so pleased with her and more than a little gobsmacked as...

    BAPSH Champs Hartpury

I only went down to the International Arena to do the morphology class, all the dressage and functionality was in the Old Indoor Arena, I was initially fairly pleased that I would not have to go up and down the spooky hill to do my dressage, but have to say the old indoor was really really...

Huge crests, Laminitus, Hard Ground, Feeding, Silted Walking - Help!!

I am very glad you have remedied the 24 hour turnout, I am surprised that your vet did not advise you against suddenly turning out 24/7 after box rest tbh as this almost certainly brings the laminitis back with a vengence! Normally the advice is to turn out for 10mins the first day and increase...
