    Guess the breed/s

He was relinquished by a lady with four children under seven, who realised four young children, one large breed puppy and working full time wasn't going to work. She got him from the lady who purchased him from the breeder. This lady was in an abusive relationship and her partner used to hurt...

    Guess the breed/s

You are all too good! He is 37.5% GSD, 37.5% Bullmastiff, 25% Boxer. The DNA test was spot on with the three breeds, we do know his parentage. We did the test as a bit of fun, and to double check what we had been told about his parentage as he just seems to keep on growing! His name is...

Why would anyone want to own a tb?

Thank you :) Not bad for a freebie!

    Guess the breed/s

I foster dogs for a local rescue. Late last year we took on an emergency placement, a seven month old 'big dog'. He is now 16 months old, rather large, and not going anywhere - our second failed foster dog! I wanted to know how big he was going to get, as he just keeps growing and...

Why would anyone want to own a tb?

I have always avoided TB's like the plague. Then a friend asked me if I would look after one for her as her rescue was full. I fell in love! Mind you, she is the least TB-y horse I have ever had. Calm, kind, not stressy, lives on fresh air, great feet, has a max of a MW rug on, even in...

    Conflicted on what to do.

My girl is 11 years old and has been a field ornament for the last four years with me due to various issues. She is as happy as larry, loves being a horse just mooching about in a field playing with her pals and having a fuss from time to time. If your horse is happy not being worked and you...

    Horse won't load!

My mare is a nightmare to load. Many a professional has tried and failed. Pressure and release do not work with her. The only thing that does work is Mr Blue Pipe, or a sweeping brush niggling her from behind. She gets cross and kicks at it but soon realises that the only way to get the...

Need a name for new pony..

She's now called Tegwen :) It was my favourite anyway, and judging by the poll results yours too! Looking forward to starting work with her. Thanks all :)

Need a name for new pony..

You can spell it with an 'e' or a 'y' :) Must admit it is one of my favourites.

Need a name for new pony..

Two of the names are the names of people I know, one I have heard someone being called in the pub and the others I looked at online names and chose some I liked. Can't call her Polly, I have a niece called Polly, and I really want her to have a Welsh name - the pony, not my niece! :D

Need a name for new pony..

I have never watched Game of Thrones so didn't know there was a character called Tirion! I will discount that one then!

Need a name for new pony..

She is a 2yo Welsh D x, currently standing at around 14.1. She has had minimal handling, she has had a headcollar on a handful of times but has mainly been left to her own devices. She does already have a name, but I would rather her have a Welsh name, being a Welshie and living in Wales...

Go with your gut or go with the vet?

Go with your gut. I have a TB who is a bit of a drama queen, and twice in the last year has been hobbling, as if she had an abscess. Got the farrier out who said no abscess. People were telling me to get the vet out asap, but I knew she had just tweaked something being an idiot in the field...

Livery Yard Owners - Can I Bend Your Ears Please?

I need a bit of advice and wondered if livery yard owners could either PM me if they would prefer not to declare that they run a yard publicly, or post on here and I will PM you. Thank you :)

    House training help

I think we are going to have to start to tell her off Alec, but she is an odd little thing, doesn't get particularly excited when we praise her, despite us looking like a pair of loons doing so! We have had her for four weeks Mahoganybay, she was bred by someone wanting to sell 'hard' dogs...

    House training help

We have a little foster pup in, currently about 14 weeks old and while she is lovely and pretty well behaved, her toilet habits leave a lot to be desired. For example, she has just been outside for a good ten minutes after waking up, came in, wee'd and poo'd on the carpet. Arrrggghhhh...

    I hate having a livery yard :(

I'm glad your YO gets a nice income from liveries. I don't. I do it because I used to be a livery and struggled to find somewhere to keep my horses. I have only just taken the yard on, and while it is currently in need of a fair bit of TLC, it is a project I am embarking on. Fencing will...

    I love having a livery yard! :)

There is no 'like' button, but I like that you love having a livery yard! So do I most of the time, just not of late :)

    I hate having a livery yard :(

I did offer the use of another nice and dry stable. The offer was refused ;) I am in no way livery bashing. I love my other liveries, they are a great bunch even though they drive me mad sometimes! However, I am able to communicate verbally with them, I have a moan, they have a moan, then we...

    I hate having a livery yard :(

It is just the one who will be going, the others are fine. One sometimes needs bringing back into line, but she just gets a bit carried away and is easy to manage :)

    I hate having a livery yard :(

Ok, just to clarify a few things - This is my home and my business - holiday lets and bed and breakfast. I rent the whole farm, house, outbuildings, land. I have full responsibility for the full site and can utilise it as I see fit, as long as the rent is paid on time. Yes, I inherited the...

    I hate having a livery yard :(

There is an update..... I waited until the livery had come home to inform her that I would be putting my horses in 'her' field. She wasn't overly impressed, but couldn't say much. I told her she could use another field if she wished to turn out her horses, but she rarely does so that isn't a...

    I hate having a livery yard :(

That is a really good idea, I will do that. It is a quite sheltered anyway, but that would mean they could all stand together out of the wind :)

    I hate having a livery yard :(

The stable share would not go down well, and there are stallions involved - not mine, liveries. It wouldn't work I'm afraid, but thanks for the suggestion, it might have worked otherwise.

    I hate having a livery yard :(

I guess you would have all thought I would know if I had a barn stuck in a field somewhere. You wouldn't have thought someone could be so stupid not realise that they had one..... :D It's not a massive building, more like a decent sized stable, but there is plenty of shelter around it too...

    I hate having a livery yard :(

This is why I love HHO, you can throw a problem out there and you will receive lots of opinion, suggestions and advice :) Thank you all :) x Still can't believe how dim I have been not realising I have a stone barn in one of my fields!!!!

    I hate having a livery yard :(

It is a bit of a nightmare I'm afraid. Hey, I have just realised that I do have a field with a shelter in it (doh!). I don't go round there often, so had forgotten all about it. Livery who uses that field will just have to swap fields with me for a while if she wants to keep her stables...
