    Stolen trailers.

The police in my friend's case were absolutely useless. When she told them she'd found the trailer and was going to get it they just said be careful and don't go alone. No back up whatsover.

    Stolen trailers.

A friend had her trailer stolen recently, she's just found it and got it back. How did she do it? She got on the internet and searched for it on every FB marketplace in the country, tracked it down, over 20 days it had changed hands at least 3 times, it's been all over the UK and she's driven...

    Hug your horses..

Thank you all so so much for your kind messages, it means so much to me on this horrible day. We all know, with horses, to expect the unexpected on every level, but when the worst happens it's always shocking to the core. Rose was only 12, fit and healthy. In fact I found her through this...

    Hug your horses..

After just writing some stuff about Welshies this morning, went down the field to find my beautiful other mare, my standardbred, dead. It looks as though it was colic, she was fine at 6.30 yesterday evening. Feeling terrible. Go and hug your horse. Signing off for a bit. X

    What is it about Welshies?

My Welshie is a bossy opinionated madam at home and very sharp to hack out. Very forward going..and sideways going.snorty...spooky....with planting her feet and doing little half rears for good measure. I've actually never felt safer on a horse and as Conniegirl says it's best to just laugh it...

    Live out at night ??

Mine have been up by the gate and wiggling their eyebrows at me at 9am every morning recently. The flies are starting to get bad by then. The horses are so relieved to get into the stables, I let them out at 6pm, any earlier and they refuse to even put a hoof out of the door.

    This woman is awesome!

    Why are welshies so sharp?

That is so exactly how mine is. I do feel incredibly safe riding her though, despite all the sideways and snorting she does. Somebody mentioned cow pony? Mine would be brilliant judging by the way she is in the field with the other horses. She'll single a random one out, cut it away from the...

Horse died from a seizure right outside my house

How awful. My arab died the same way 3 years ago, he had a massive seizure, he'd never had one before, and broke his leg as he was struggling on the ground. It happened in the field, I was there with him as were the rest of my herd and his closest little pony friend spent hours over the next few...

What do you miss about DIY, what do you miss about Full?

Shysmum. Ditto every word you say. I'm flying solo too, it has it's good points but it's hard, especially through the winter.

    Equine dentist in Wales

I was going to ask this on the Wales section but it's a bit quiet on there. Can anyone recommend a good equine dentist around the Pembrokeshire/Carmarthenshire areas? Thanks.

    Lump on my mares stomach!!!

Please get your vet to check it. I don't want to scare you but I had the vet out today to my mare who also developed a similar swelling on her belly. Vet has taken bloods to rule out the possibility of the start of heart or organ failure. It's better to face these things and get them diagnosed...

    Irrational annoyances...

I'm so with Annagain about the caps on wormers being difficult to get off, in fact the whole packaging is truly annoying, practically need a chain saw to open it (or is it just me?). Flimsy plastic shavings forks. My husband trying to tell me the best way to empty a wheelbarrow. My...

Pictures Ponies wanting to be in...early !

My sect D mare now predicts the weather. We've periods of squally sleet showers and periods of blue sky. When the weather seems calm and settled she'll go and stand by the entrance to the stables asking to go in, and you can be sure that within the 10 mintes or so a massive icy squall will blow...

    Abusing my farrier

LOL he does look a tad startled. A friend of mine always offers to test my fences he actually likes getting shocks. It makes him go all giggly and ridiculous.

Has anybody had a later life change of mind on having children....?

I've no constructive comment to make, I just want to say reading what you've written has brought me to the verge of tears, I'm so angry on your behalf. Pregnancy can be hard and wonderful in equal measure, as is bringing up a child, but to have that option taken away from you in such a deceptive...

Does your horse have temper tantrum’s?

Goodness yes! My welsh Princess of the Paddock was recently diagnosed with a bog spavin and it was recommended she had 8 weeks box rest. Cue royal tantrums of the most majesterial proportions. 'DON'T want my feed in THAT bucket' . 'WHERE'S my TREATS?' Why are you staring AT MY LEG, don't LOOK at...

    Leaving yards after pts

Ah the rainbow bridge. I don't think my lovely old arab went over it when he was PTS. I think he's still faffing around at the bottom of it, he hated going up ramps and was terrified of coloured poles unless I led him, so I expect he's waiting for me to turn up with a handful of mints and some...

Burying a horse at home - Wales

The lovely Welsh farmer who buried both of mine, 2 years apart, asked me the same question both times. He enquired softly, in his beautiful Welsh accent 'Now then, would you like your horse to be buried facing east'? I'm not sure if he was religious or he thought I might be but I did say yes...

Burying a horse at home - Wales

In Wales, yes you can if your horse is a pet. Two of mine sadly passed here are buried in my field. From the website.. Horses In Scotland and Wales, only pet horses can be buried. In England, you’re allowed to bury horses whether they are pets or not. For further information, contact...

    Most memorable ride

Years ago, riding a big coloured cob bareback along the main drag at Glastonbury festival on a Saturday afternoon. I'd borrowed him from one of the travellers, and that horse was as steady as a rock amongst all the madness going on around him...he would have made a great police horse. Also...

Cheeky/ridiculous posts you see on Facebook.

Saw this today.. Looking for 3 horses that are free to a good home for me and my two friends, they will be forever loved and well looked after. Willing to pay a small fee for the tack and any rugs and halters they may have. We’re looking for these particular things in the horses. 1) well...

Gelding turned mean while around mare

My gelding was the same...for years, but only with grey mares. I read somewhere that geldings will become more bonded with mares if the mare is the same colour as their dam. Utter tosh I thought, until I looked at my geldings breeding and his dam was indeed grey. There might be something in it.

Never thought I’d be writing this :(

It does sound like a pain related issue and full vet work up sounds like it will give you a clearer picture. However, here's my story for what it's worth. I bought a 4 year old arab x welsh mare, 14.2, as a share between my daughter and myself. I tried her out at the sellers' place, she was...
