    Towing with SWB?

Thank you, it’s all sounding positive for the swb, I’m testing tomorrow so I feel a bit more confident now. I hadn’t really thought about the Shogun but it’s another to consider if the land cruiser is no good

    Towing with SWB?

I need a 4wd turnbuckle plus space for two large dogs so a hatchback wouldn’t work for me. I’m not sure a 3.5t would take both my horses legally nor am I sure it would get out of my yard. I’d love a lorry but having given it a lot of thought I don’t think it would work.

    Towing with SWB?

The Disco is too long Levrier, I really need a swb to enable me to get out of my yard. Thanks Wheels, you’re convincing me!!

    Towing with SWB?

Thank you Ester, it’s good to hear positive experiences. I think I’ve just got to get my head around the fact they can do the job! Splashgirl45 the Defender would be my next choice if I don’t get on with the land cruiser, it’s just a matter of finding one. I know they’re definitely up to the job!

    Towing with SWB?

Excellent Wheels, thank you for replying especially as the reason I need to change to the swb is because Im struggling to get out of my yard. I’ve already swapped from an Equi Trek to an IW trailer because it’s shorter but I could do with going shorter still so am thinking the swb will be the...

    Towing with SWB?

Apologies if this has been done before but I’m looking for some simple easy to understand info as I’m confused by conflicting info online. I am thinking of trading in my lwb ‘06 Land Cruiser for the new 2018 commercial Land Cruiser. It’s towing capacity is quoted as the same as the lwb but...

    Mud and grass mats

Hi, I know this has been done lots on here and I've looked up some of the old threads before posting but I still have some questions! I have a large area of mud caused by my horses having to cross the top of their summer grazing to get into the yard as there is no alternative way in. It's...

Hardcore yard area - grass mats?

It’s been whackered down MagicMelon but I think if they twist on it they’ll scuff it up. I do agree about the grass mats & I’m also worried about farriers nails etc. Thank you for your reply, such a dilemma!

Hardcore yard area - grass mats?

Ok thank you very much, I’ve got the thin ones in my Shetland’s stable and wasn’t sure they’d be man enough for the job but from what you’ve said it might be worth a try.

Hardcore yard area - grass mats?

Have you secured the stable mats in any way? I’ve thought about using them but I’m worried they’ll trip over the edges. If I used stable mats I’d have to use the thin ones to keep cost down and I think they’ll be so light they’ll move around.

Hardcore yard area - grass mats?

Yes you’re probably right TheMule, I’m guessing I’d have to keep it pretty clean but I’m not sure how it would stand up to regular sweeping. I don’t mind the holes filling up but I wouldn’t want a layer forming on top. Mind you if it won’t cope with vigorous sweeping it won’t cope with horse...

Hardcore yard area - grass mats?

Has anyone used the holey type grass mats over hardcore in a yard area to prevent the hardcore being churned up and if so was it a success? I’m looking to protect a small hardcore area roughly 24 x 12 foot which will be used regularly by horses to come in and out of field shelters. Also as an...

Thank you JanetGeorge here's hoping for an easy recovery and a more settled girl.

    Experiences of Granulosa Cell Tumour

She is obsessed with one particular mare even jumping post & rail to get to her then circling & guarding her constantly. When they are in separate fields from what I can make out she spends all night galloping around trying to get to her calling all the time. I put this down to her being kept on...

    Experiences of Granulosa Cell Tumour

Her behaviour to me has actually been very good JanetGeorge, she was originally mine & I sold her after backing and the lady had her for six years but she was bucking in canter & this plus time restraints meant she was getting ridden less & less and eventually not ridden since November. I then...

    Experiences of Granulosa Cell Tumour

Yes thank you gorseyhorsey that does help - and it was what I was dreading! Due to yard facilities my mare will be in her stable and will then have to be moved to another yard when she is allowed a small turn out patch, I was hoping maybe two weeks box rest and then moved for another few weeks...

    Experiences of Granulosa Cell Tumour

Thank you JanetGeorge I will definitely check everything through with the vet when I pick her up & also with my own vet when he comes to check her but having heard such varying information about the recuperation I was interested in peoples' experiences. I'm not sure how big her tumour was but...

    Experiences of Granulosa Cell Tumour

My horse had surgery yesterday to remove an ovary due to having a GCT, she is still in hospital and I'm hoping to bring her home on Monday. Those of you who have had horses operated on could you give me some info on the recuperation and recovery period please - I think my horse had a reasonably...

Mini carrying dog - am I mad?

I will do sweepeep and glad this has given you some pleasure! I've been researching basket panniers and I think the problem will be the width of them because I will be leading from another horse so it might mean the mini will be too far away from me. I definitely need something she can go in...

Mini carrying dog - am I mad?

Thank you for the link Katastrophy, the thought of her perched up there going through the village had me in stitches - she would feel very important! I don't think it would work though I possibly need something to put her in rather than on. It would be the same with your idea equi, I'd feel much...

Mini carrying dog - am I mad?

Scouts been on the moors off lead all her life so that part of it should be the easy bit! She's also very focused when she thinks she's 'working' so if she's beside you when you go for a run or a cycle nothing seems to distract her so I'm hoping she'll be the same beside the horses. I'll try her...

Mini carrying dog - am I mad?

I have an unbacked mini that I lead from another horse & is completely bombproof & I have a bull terrier that I'd love to take out when I lead the mini. In order to get to the moors I have a 5 minute journey up a lane which can have a few cars on and I don't want to be worried about the dog when...

    Regurgitation - Raw feeders

The rottie bitch we had who was fussy with her food was tiny, never got over about 38kg. Someone once asked me if she was a rescue & I was horrified, she just would not eat for the first few years but she was happy and healthy and that's what counts. If she only regurgitates in one room and is...

    Regurgitation - Raw feeders

I do feel your pain, ours was just the same until she was about 3 years old! You say she'll eat it even if she leaves it & comes back to it does that mean you leave it down if she walks away? Have you tried picking it up as soon as she walks away and then not giving her anything until next meal...

    Regurgitation - Raw feeders

I get our Natural Instinct directly from them, they deliver the next day & the courier leaves it in our garage by the freezer. It is expensive I agree, Natures Menu is cheaper but also cheaper quality & depending on the product contains rice. I've tried Nutriment, it was ok but mine preferred...

    Experiences of Bull Terriers?

Ours is definitely not blessed with intelligence! She's stubborn, in a world of her own and tests our patience to the max - despite that I love her to bits and laugh at her & with her every day. However no matter what anyone says they'll never convince me that she isn't thick! Look forward to...

    Dog Bouyancy Aids

Any recommendations please? I'm looking at the ezy-dog ones as they seem quite adjustable but I've only seen them online so not sure how robust they are. They'd be used for wild swimming so flat water but hopefully we'll be in the water a while each time so they need to be comfortable One...

    Regurgitation - Raw feeders

0310Star we have fed all our rotties Natural Instinct, roughly 4 days a week the varieties that include veg and 3 days a week the 'pure' which has no veg in. I read somewhere that wild dogs would eat the intestines of 'grass' eating animals and would get the plant part of their diet that way -...
