    Youngsters and Spatial Awareness

Hiya... Realise this is an old post, but searching for tips on improving spatial awareness in a youngster I've happened upon your post... Was just wondering how you had got on with you youngster and if you had any advice for someone in a similar situation... My youngster (now 3, was rising 3...

You're after me now! Woah!! It's almost funny! I rest my case! (Exasperated!) And as you yourself just said previously OP got flustered at around post 14/15 after a barrage!

It's really not hard to be direct and constructive with your opinions and advice without being inflammatory. To ask the right questions and give what you think is the right advice. No one needs to get a nasty at all, or do they need to be just be agreeable. Just have a little tact perhaps.

Post two starts aggressively from the outset and para two begins 'sorry if that sounds harsh'. Continues from there in a mostly harsh and accusatory fashion. With some scattered constructive comments. You should be wanting people to listen to your advice not turn them away and making them run...

My god, I can't keep up, my remote internet is way too slow! I hope you can all be nice to each other and helpful! Or at least try... Arguing is so futile! Goodnight...

Looking from OPs perspective from the onset attack seemed the best form of defence since she was rather set upon instantly when simply asking for help and advice. Intimidation is a form of bullying and really very unlikely to be assistive. I would hope people would learn from this how to treat...

I agree that there is always a 'bigger picture' which is hard for anyone to condense into a quickly typed post, looking eagerly for a helpful response. I also agree that the horses welfare is paramount and have no doubt that op has demonstrated that she has her mare under the care of numerous...

Should never assume.... You were very quick to jump on the bandwagon. It's not my mare. I am just astonished at the reception of people when others post here asking for advice. It's utterly incredible.

It is a very ignorant person who thinks they can help someone by attacking them. You should all use your knowledge to educate and encourage others. Not slate them. You would gain so much more.

That's what is so frustrating about this. You may well be very experienced and have very good advice. But instead of giving this in a constructive manor you scare people away by being ferocious. There is just no need for it. Will gain you no respect.

My point exactly DD perhaps there are better places to look for advice than here! Not sure anyone is safe!!

Another ridiculous assumption by you! Of course they do moomin1, but when the vet has left and and you're left on watch, scared and worried, you turn to the advice and comfort of fellow horse owners, unless of course they just make assumptions and accusations like you! Constructive as ever...

Wow! People come to forums for advice from fellow horse lovers, not a crucifixion. All those with different experiences have an opportunity to help others and instead you make people afraid to ask by going straight for the jugular! If you don't understand a post or if the original explanation...

Napping - I need some help please!!

I realise I am re-igniting an older thread! Apols all... But was wondering how the OP had progressed with the napping / rearing issue? Have come across this thread looking for advice for a very similar situation which I have with my young ISH. Have walked out in hand for miles, lots of ground...

    Foot Experts Advice Please

Have seen a lot about turmeric recently but more in relation to sweet itch... Have given her bute in the past but am not sure that it's made a vast difference so did not continue it. She is still on hard feed twice a day, including a conditioning mix to maintain her weight and still lean...

Exracehorse did you have any issues with your TB losing weight or condition on his new diet whilst barefoot? I struggle to keep weight on my mare - bearing in mind also that she is 25 - and the barefoot diets that I have read so far seem to go against everything she needs to hold weight on...

Thanks Meesha, decidedly think weather having an adverse affect, have never seen her hooves as bad as they are at the minute... :-/ My farrier suggested painting lard onto her feet every day, says it's as good as the really expensive brands of hoof balm....

    Foot Experts Advice Please

That's why I'm here researching the options... She was barefoot last year for six months but out of work. She does get very sore without shoes, am currently researching boots and pads so any experience or advice would be gratefully received, there are so many options out there it's hard to know...

The ultimate looks really interesting and therapeutic for rehabilitation of hooves - which is what we need! Think perhaps I should ask the advice/opinion of a specialised barefoot trimmer - any recommendations in the Devon area anyone?!

Hi Faracat... Have been investigating hoof boots and pads, have no experience with them and don't have any equine friends who have used them either... Reading online it seems to be a minefield regarding fit and type and am not quite sure where to start or who to ask for advice... Any ideas? :)

Apologies everyone, connection issues! Thank you for all your comments... This is her 4th set with this farrier. She had six months barefoot last summer after the check ligament issue, was sound but unridden obviously. Brought back into work slowly with no lameness, although began to drop her...

Cptrayes how do I pm the farrier? (Sorry am new to this forum malarkey)... :) thank you... She does seem happier with her heels raised. Tiddlypom you should definitely rant! No witch hunts here, we're not like that at all :) I just don't want the same, or god forbid worse, to happen to anyone else! Keep wondering about the what ifs... What if the breakaway cable had been attached to the car elsewhere... With horses loaded...
