I don't show mine but what will the summer coat look like if it "ruined" by late clipping?

She had them when we got her and she's only on chaff. She was very briefly on Topspec Original a few months ago so we don't think it's anything to do with what I've been feeding her. It seems to be something to do with heat IMO.

She's had them since we bought her. It was summer when we got her so everyone including the vet who vetted her thought they were fly bites. They used to be all over her body but as it got cooler they disappeared and are now mainly on her back and a few on her shoulders. I might try the clipping...

We couldn't pin point what they were so he suggested a course of steroids to get rid of the flammation. I will speak to the vet tomorrow. Someone suggested clipping her again and then hot clothing her and then keeping a clean rug on underneath her at all times. I don't think they bother her but...

She has already had one dose today. Can I stop them now and try something else and then go back to the steroids? Vet wrote 15ml first dose then 10ml every other day for a week.

Don't worry she's not :) She was kept in a field like that for a week with her old owner before I had her. I was just using it as an example to show she's not prone to lami. Now I'm even more nervous about having her on these steroids.

She is 4/rising 5. I'm working on her accepting contact and working on the bit and doing lots of circles. She comes round in trot but her canter needs lots of work so any exercises that would help her canter?

I think both I and my horse are getting bored with schooling so are there are any exercises (on the flat) people recommend to get her brains working?

Don't shoot me down but what is the point of there being age classes for 4/5/6 year olds if it's too young to jump them? Edit: I'm not aiming to jump affiliate her anytime soon, just bringing it up.

She went to a couple of clinics before I had her and she's been to my instructor's yard and jumped there and she was fine. Will definitely take her to a show ground and ride/walk her round. Do you think it's best to do a clear round or a proper class? Or does it not really matter?

I've heard of people having problems with the Lites (even adults who are within the weight guideline), I think it was because they're lighter than the Pros or something, I can't really remember, but it would be safer to go with the Pros anyway, as the Lites are generally for kids, who are...

I have a 4yo and at the moment she's nicely popping small courses with fillers at home. When would you say is the best time to take a 4yo to their first show? And what height would you suggest?

Might be a silly question but can you put fluffy noseband covers on drop nosebands? Are they still effective in getting the horse to put it's head down?

Anyone used / use one? They look good but are they actually any good? Does your bridle go in the storage bit under your saddle?

Not read the whole thread but IMO the best bedding is straw. If you have a clean horse, then go for shavings, but they cling to everything (manes, tails and fleeces). I tried wood pellets but my horse is too messy and trashed it, so we're back on straw. It's warmer, cheaper and looks better.

I don't keep them at the yard because they're expensive to replace if they get stolen (insurance doesn't cover them with my tack) and I can't run them up the leathers so I just take them off the saddle, but now I'm thinking I'll have to leave them there for the YO because I can't find any decent...

What are some good stirrup leathers that aren't too expensive but don't rub the saddle? I have a Bates jump saddle with the Bates webbers (T bar ones) and Free Jumps, but I'm buying some ordinary stirrups (probably Compositi ones) for when my horse is exercised by the YO and the Bates webbers...
