These are just the answers I wanted, brilliant. But yes, were are these muck heaps finally being disposed of? An answer (on here I think), mentioned ploughing it through the fields? Wood pellet bedding is brilliant & I'd never, through choice, use anything else.

Views please on muck heap disposal please. Someone I know is having to pay to have their muck heap taken away. It's not been removed for at least 2 years to my knowledge, so up until now has just been gradually increasing in size. Apparently no-one wants 'it', as it is mainly made up of wood...

Thanks wagtail. Maybe we've been a bit premature with the boots, even though the wound was bone dry and scabbing up nicely. Back in the drawer for the boots I think, I don't want any more nasty surprises first thing in the morning!

Thank you for taking the time to reply but if you read the post the wound was fully closed, hence why I have waited until now to put the boots on. I think the boots may have caused too much pressure build up resulting in the loss of the established scab. I shall leave the boots off for a while...

Blue Ribbon Horse Bedding from Clifford Jones Timber are by far the best IMO. Have tried other brands including a 'very well known' brand and nothing compares to BR. I would never go back to any other form of bedding now, absolutely brilliant !!!

I've had mine several years and had new heels put on twice. They are lovely comfy boots and yes, they will sag/bag/drop around the ankles quite a bit. Hope you are pleased with yours :-)

I also feed Benevit Advance to my horses. No problems with palatability and they both look amazing all year round. Highly recommended. They are such lovely people to deal with aswell. Give them a call, I'm sure they will send you a free sample! :-)

Build it up really slowly so you keep your confidence. Just literally try half a dozen or so strides in canter, sit up tall, keep you bum in the saddle and try not to cling on to the reins! Relax and after a few strides come back to trot. Let us know how you get on :)

I'll remain silent about certificates etc. My YO will not get contractors in to spray. We need to do it ourselves. What are you proposing to use, and what weed problem are you having? Yes, an annoying problem but interesting thread to read !!!

Thanks to you all who have replied. I guess it's too late in the season to spray now anyway. We'll have to keep on topping for now and assess the situaiton at an earlier flowering stage next spring. :)

I completed spraying two fields 6 acres a fortnight ago so just letting the horses back on to the grass today hooray ! What herbicide did you use?
