    Very poorly mare, neurological

Just been to see her, vet is doing all blood tests. She actually looked a little better :) Asked him about the selenium (thank you Sarah ;)) and he'll look into that too although he doubted that it was that because of the one sided aspect of the problem. However, friend did say that this...

    Very poorly mare, neurological

Hi, I'd be interested to know if anybody else has experienced this. Just to say before she is staying at the vets under veterinary supervision so this obviously isn't asking for a diagnosis, more of a what could it be? Basically, my friend's nine year old mare suddenly started staggering...

Cheer me up, what's to look forward to in the UK?

Well the weather here's much the same. I think that he'll get more turn out in the UK which will suit my horse better.

Cheer me up, what's to look forward to in the UK?

Yes :) I can finally go and see War Horse :):):) And saddle fitters, one thing on my list of things to do is buy a new saddle that's fitted for him and me :)

Cheer me up, what's to look forward to in the UK?

Coming back because it's been 4 years away and I miss my big Sis :D Also, the economy has picked up and there's work again in my field :) I'm a bit nervous as I've got more experience in horses over here than in the UK now, there's some bits and bobs where I'm not sure what the word is in...

Cheer me up, what's to look forward to in the UK?

So I'm returning to the UK next week with horse. The problem is that he's been at the transporter's yard since Saturday :( with all his papers  So after a hugely stressful day or so I've now calmed down after the transporter has contacted me. I now just have a large, horse shaped hole...

Transporters to/from Europe and East Midlands?

hi Not been on here for a while! Can anybody recommend a company to transport a horse from Belgium to the UK (east midlands)? Obviously for a reasonable price and not involving a huge European tour. I'm really interested in one's with a good reputation. (Or not ;-)) Thanks in...

Coughing at the end of winter

 Janette, I'm in the UK at the moment so I hope he doesn't get anything like that for the girl looking after him! Thanks for all your advice. I'm hoping to completely change his environment and move back to the UK so he should get turned out more in the winter. I'm pretty sure this is...

Coughing at the end of winter

He hasn't been scoped for anything yet. He's bedded on straw and has hay in the morning. No turnout at the moment. But, all factors were the same last year except the outside box and he was ok

Coughing at the end of winter

Has anybody got any bright ideas on why and what I can do to help him? This also happened 2 years ago at a different yard. Basically, he just starts coughing as we're coming to the end of winter. It's a nasty cough and he can't really be ridden other than in walk. He coughs in his box but...

    east mids - grantham area?

Just a VERY tentative question. How much for full, possibly competition livery in the region? I'm talking all disciplines. Can be field or stabled or mixed (mixed is preferable). I don't have a regular internet signal so won't be able to reply straight away - sorry!

    disunited canter on circles

My horse does this but I don't think it's a medical problem as he's fine when my instructor rides him :o I think there's a couple of reasons, he's a bit lazy, I'm not a fantastic rider and I have a tendancy to drop my weight to the inside on a circle (I also cycle a lot ). I'm now...

What angers you when observing horse/riders at competitions?

Gosh! This thread has been a right eye-opener! I only compete at a very low level and sure, there's annoyances like kids cutting you up but generally, people are polite and nice to their horses. They ban people here for over-use of the whip, even at low level. At a comp this weekend, one...

    Best advice ever?

I agree! I did martial arts and had the same problem/advice :D I tend to hold my breathe when I'm learning something but it just makes you tense up! My horse will do a fab halt if I just sit up and breathe out. (I'm lucky to have a good boy). :p

Rath & Totilas not going to the Olympics

Actually, I think it's a bit of a shame for the other competitors too as he's kind of "the horse to beat". No matter how well they do there will always be one who'll say "well, Totilas wasn't there........." Even if he did go I think our guys could win anyway as the new combination doesn't...

How cool would it be to have these addresses's!

I worked for a large housebuilder many moons ago and it was my job to name roads. Sometime the developer/council had a theme but one site came up and I named all the streets after horses I'd known and loved :D If you live on Bella Close (lovely little Welsh A mare), Crown Way (Crown Regent...

& vid* Awesome Arville CIC*** report!

Brilliant! I was keeping an eye on the results website and saw you climb up - pity I couldn't get there though I did have reliable second-hand reports being phoned in ;) Sounds like Mr T_E is just as chuffed :D Bet you won't have time to give a novice (muppet :D) XC clinic at the moment...

rider fitness - do you/how do you fit it in?

Is your yard a long way from work/home? Could you cycle there and kind of incorporate your exercise in your travelling time? I'm lucky in that I can cycle to work and to the yard :) I really rate cycling for strengthening the legs for riding (not so good for hand position, my instructor is...

    I'm moving..Who knows about Lichfield/ Staffs area? Eques centres/places to work/ride

I had some lessons here many moons ago. Very business-like, good instructors and 4 schools if I remember correctly (although one inside school was a bit "reserve"). http://www.ingestre.com/ I was just a wannabe rider with cash but I was very impressed with the BHS students who taught me and...
