Vetting recommendation - area between Taunton and Martock

Another one who'd recommend Andrew Walker, formerly of Dilliway Bosley and Walker, or Tim from Stables Equine.

Badminton XC coverage is not live via the BBC red button this year

Typically the only time of the day I've got any meetings, right when Will, Ros, Pippa and Olly are due to go in. Gutted! Away Cruising looked a bit on his toes for that, bit of a shame for Harry after having to withdraw on his last one. Hopefully tomorrow is smooth for them!

Badminton XC coverage is not live via the BBC red button this year

bit annoyed that it boots you off at the end of the live stream, was watching a bit delayed as work kept getting in the way. Don't they know it's dressage day?! But looking forward to watching the coverage after lunch.

    Badminton TV dressage

It might be the quality you're streaming at as well, if you're happy with it not being super crisp dropping it down to 480p might help!

Watching from the start now, the quality isn't great but that might be my internet! Very excited for today.

For those of you who have taken a break - how did you cope?

Just to add, obviously it'll depend on schedules and all sorts of other stuff but are there any charities you could volunteer for that'll help get your horsey fix in? I know roles are really sought after but no harm in having a nosy if there's anything around you and you've got capacity.

For those of you who have taken a break - how did you cope?

I'm on a break at the moment, (had to put my last one down) haven't been able to go back for financial reasons, burnt through savings on vet bills and schooling livery. I have every intention of going back, but it has to be on my terms so for now I'm enjoying not having to face the elements...

I just bought my first cob! Introduction + feed advice + photos!

Crikey Red just caught up on this, what a rollercoaster! Echo all the other posters saying just how lucky the gorgeous Rigsby is to have such a dedicated person (/team of people, go Mr Red) in his corner. Keeping all the fingers and toes I have crossed that the upward trend continues and he's...

    PTS or keep going

I see what you mean, it can be easy to look at it without the emotional attachment but I think we're all very aware of the emotional attachment and bond you can have so it's not a throwaway bit of advice from anyone here. I was in OP's shoes (or similar at least) and I couldn't keep him in a...

    European eventing championships

It's annoying to be dropping Ros' dressage score as it was so well marked but yes still a team chance. I didn't watch his dressage but he is a very strong horse with a tendency to go a bit 'deaf', she must be gutted. Makes a bit more sense why perhaps they weren't the first choice for Tokyo...

    European eventing championships

I might be being cynical and overreaching so bear with me, but after the horse death at Tokyo (although we all know it wasn't a jumping fall) and the absolute shocker that was modern pentathlon SJ (which is outside the remit of eventing obviously but still) do you think there's been some...

    Europeans Cross Country Thread?

On FEI tv at the moment but might jump ship for Tina, Lucinda is doing my nut in a little bit. This is riding rather well overall isn't it?

Need a cuddle and someone much braver than I to tell me what to expect/do

VS I really am very sorry. Echoing other posters in how lucky your horse is to have such a considerate and caring owner. I put my boy to sleep last summer, financially I wasn't in a position to get another one and actually a break to reassess whether horses were really what I wanted to...

    Bicton 5*.

I could justify it if there was other stuff going on, like Barbury was excellent and had working hunter, scurry driving, hunt relay and pony club showjumping on and even kept my non-horsey partner hooked throughout the day but for less than 3 hours and tickets at £35 I really don't think I can.

    Bicton 5*.

They'll make up their entry fees from riders on ticket sales if it's anything like the 4* a few months ago. Went with a friend and while it was a nice event I think we paid £30 a head which felt like quite a lot when compared to Barbury which was £10 or £12 and had a much more rounded schedule.

    Bicton 5*.

Might just have taken a few riders a while to rejig schedules for 5* horses, really hoping I can make it to this!! Only this on tickets https://www.bicton-arena.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Ticket-sales-website-1.pdf

    Nick Skelton on Tokyo...HHO article

I might be misunderstanding this but I thought part of the reason for the move to 3 alongside trying to make it more engaging was also to create space for riders from less established nations to take part, which is admirable and there were some great examples in the eventing (the Indian rider...

I think Lucinda is right it's the control round the corner and they don't have time to assess it properly (especially with the low head carriage so many seem to have), but it is quite airy underneath as well

I have to admit pure SJing has never been my cup of tea (largely because I'm bad at it) but I'm a bit boggled by the number of issues/refusals at this level and the style of riding. Is this typical at high level?

    Tokyo Eventing SJ thread

I think even if you're not het up enough to "complain" per se it's worth submitting a form requesting that they hire someone with actual equestrian experience to commentate on an equestrian sport. I appreciate that it's not always an option or if Discovery think it isn't worth the investment...
