I agree! I'm just watching Kentucky atm, fingers crossed she stays 1st and 2nd! She certainly is a huge role model, I hope that I get to see her ride in the Olympics if she's on the team (I think she will be) and I get allocated tickets :)

parents teaching their children you can't always win at shows, my experience yesterda

Nope, my mum who is totally non horsey was thrilled when I was placed 3/4th in my local shows on tabby. I do remember taking Tabby in a veteran class when I was about 13/14 and we did a nice little individual show, tabs got a little excited during the canter and it wasn't perfect, she does...

Damaged coccyx - how long til I can ride again - wail!

When I hurt my coccyx I think it took about 2 weeks to feel ok to ride, I think, it was a while ago now :P It was my own fault, landed on a rock and it took me a while to get up and walk over to lunge my horse. Hope it feels better soon!

Riders ability/ Bringing on a younger horse

Thanks for the replies guys :) As for my personality and attitude towards them, I am very patient and pretty determined when it comes to riding. I have a bit of a 'get on anything' attitude and I'm always put on the ones the others are scared of riding :D I wasn't thinking on getting something...

Riders ability/ Bringing on a younger horse

probably should have mentioned that I would be having regular lessons :) Hmm I got tabs when I was 12 and she is by no means a novice ride, I re-schooled her and she does pretty well :) I guess I would be ok, would be weird looking after a horse after having a few years off but im sure I...

Riders ability/ Bringing on a younger horse

Just something that I have been thinking about rather than doing my uni assignments, oops! What level of ability do you think a rider would have to be to buy/loan a younger horse? When I get my next horse in about 3/4 years I would really like a younger horse to bring on but I'm terrified...

Advanced Riders in the West Midlands and Warwickshire Area

Maybe see if any local uni riding clubs would be interested in having lessons or holding team competitions there?

Nothing compared to what you guys to but I had to share :D

I'm at Manchester Metropolitan, UoM's riding club is ok, but we have a girl who used to ride with them but didn't like it so now she rides with us (her sister is at MMU). Loads of people say that the place they ride at isn't very good, but I went today and it seemed ok :)

Nothing compared to what you guys to but I had to share :D

Thank you :) Yeah I haven't jumped for ages so I did well to stay brave haha and only got 4 fences to warm up on. I think getting mainly 8s for jumping was pretty good and I'm pleased with my dressage test. Hopefully I get to do the next one!

Nothing compared to what you guys to but I had to share :D

So I rode for uni today in a little friendly competition (my first one in 2 years). We did the jumping first, I drew a little 14.2hh skewbald that according to the notes 'may require encouragement', I thought that would be it, me- a nervous jumper + horse that requires encouragement =...

    Manchester/Staffordshire

Hey haven't been on here for a while! Does anyone know of any good riding schools for advanced riders in Staffordshire or Manchester? I ride for the uni riding club since loaning out tabs but would like a few private lessons to improve my jumping (and general riding :P). Thanks, Rach

    Loosing the enthusiasm

Why don't you have a bit of time off? I had about 1 1/2- 2 years off and now cant stop riding! :)

What's your attitude to falling off?

I get back on straight away. Unless I'm in too much pain to do so. I remember having a group riding lesson once and falling off (totally my fault) and getting my foot caught in the stirrup and getting dragged around the school, got back on and finished my lesson, it was only in the car on he way...
