    Showjumping Show Jumping Comp report

We need to do walk to canters to get him off my leg, leg yields to get him straight, transitions within the pace, then when we jump we jump a x pole a few times from a collected canter, then move him up and jump an upright making sure we keep the impulsion. Then the oxer a couple of times and if...

    Showjumping Show Jumping Comp report

Two days of jumping means I have a lot to say so thought I’d do a full write up. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve done one and I’m napped trapped so have nothing better I can do! Saturday I had both horses entered into the 80 and 90 classes. Coolie was up first and he was fresh. I had plenty...

Weekend plans 2nd weekend in June

We had a great lesson yesterday at dressage club. Working on shoulder in and leg yields and bot felt good and looked good too! He was a bit tense and unsure, the weather was bad and the footing terrible which didn't help things but he tired SO hard and thats all I can ask. Today out show...

    Jubilee Bank Holiday Weekend Plans

We had a very stressy day at dressage. The first test had some really lovely moments and some tense and naughty moments too! I was happy with how I rode but didnt think we would do very well. We ended up 6th! With a great bit rosette too. Very very pleased. The second test was very stressy and...

    Jubilee Bank Holiday Weekend Plans

We have a dressage comp on Sunday. Henry had a bath yesterday, hack out this morning, then I though I'll just pop this jump I have set up at an angle. Was perfect the first time, thought I should do it off the other rein and I couldn't see a stride. So rather than keep riding I took my leg off...

    2nd weekend in May plans

We had a FANTASTIC lesson today at dressage club. Henry has had a really easy week due to rain (2 bush rides!) and he absolutely could have been fresh and a bit wound up but no, he was a super star. He gave me some of the best work he has done so far and made it feel really easy. The coach and...

    When did you stop riding?

I rode until 35 weeks, by then the what ifs were very real and I was too big and uncomfortable! I jumped competitively up until 30 weeks, but I knew my horses inside and out and jumped heights I was 100% comfortable at. You have to do what feels right for you. Everyone makes different decisions...

Weekend plans 1st full weekend in May

We have had a great weekend! Lesson yesterday was fab, just what we needed. Henry feels like himself, just needed to spend money at the vet to get him feeling 100% and it was the magic we needed. We jumped some good courses in our lesson once I looked up. Had a good time watching the XC last...

    4th weekend in April plans?

We had a flat lesson yesterday which was useful, but while Henry is sound, he clearly needs his coffin joints reinjected. He is booked in for a work up on Tuesday so he will have a quiet weekend hacking and light flatwork until then. Coolie is going to have a little jump to see how he is...

    Second week in April plans

We had a successful day show jumping on Saturday, made some progress and worked out where we need to improve. He needs to be more in front of my leg, he has these hot thoroughbred moments and tricks me into letting him be behind the leg. Then today we had a lesson and unpacked our problems...

    First weekend in April plans

We survived show jumping. It was a total mess though! I'm finding riding Henry over jumps really hard right now, I'm not sure why. He is very athletic and I am finding it hard to stay with him. I am also finding it hard to put my leg on and ride him to the jumps. But I think I just need to get...

    Last weekend in March plans

Both boys had a good jump on Saturday at home to prop for their first comp yesterday. Henry jumped two good rounds. The first was a bit messy, I didn't have him where he needed to be, I've been having to work to get him in front of my leg so when I needed him to woah and he wasn't it was a bit...

    Last weekend in March plans

Our first show jumping comp of the year! Taking both horses out as we are prepping for our first big multi day comp over easter. so 4 rounds on Sunday. Am cleaning my gear as soon as I have posted this and tomorrow both horses will have a bit of a gymnastic jump to tune up their form before...

Weekend plans, 2nd weekend in March

We had a great lesson at dressage club! Henry is starting to feel very smart about everything, he has grown up a lot in the last year. I think a year mostly off did him good. We worked on getting his frame lower and rounder, instead of short and tense, then building in some leg yielding while...

Weekend plans, 2nd weekend in March

I can't believe it's the weekend again! We had an amazing jump lesson on Wednesday but then it's been too hot to ride again. Thankfully next week is much nicer! Tomorrow we have dressage club, first rally of the season. I am having a lesson with my usual coach which is great to carry on fro...

    1st weekend in March plans

We had a jump yesterday, bush ride today, bush ride tomorrow, and a comp on Monday! Henrys first of the season, I had entered 2 jump rounds and a dressage test, but looks to be a long day, so I think i will just do the dressage test and do some jumping another time!

    Last weekend in Feb plans

We had a great time at the clinic today! Two lessons, one flatwork and one cavallettis, with my usual coach. They should have been shared lessons but I got lucky and had them allllll to myself. That worked out so, so well. We worked on getting Henry more over the back and into the contact...

    Last weekend in Feb plans

So glad you have him home DC! I hope his recovery goes well. Exciting about the horse MP, must be so nice to have one to ride! The boys had the farrier today, so no riding. Tomorrow Henry will do some poles/flatwork and have a bath before he has a clinic on Sunday. Coolie has the weekend off...

Weekend plans, 3rd weekend of February

Our forecast looks like this again, and husband has a judges seminar all day Saturday, so not much riding. Going for lunch with a girlfriend instead on Saturday. Sunday I’ll ride both early, I reset my jump course but I think it will have to wait for another day because neither have been ridden...

Weekend Plans - Week 2 of Feb

Thinking of you DC! We had a jumping lesson yesterday. Henry was supposed to go, but still only has 3 shoes. Coolie did a super job, and was making some good shapes over the jumps which is what we were aiming for! Day off today, trying to get in contact with farriers to get shoe replaced...

    Weekend Plans

As expected, no riding over the weekend but our clinic yesterday was fab. We had a flat with lesson follow by a pole lesson. Henry has had the better post of a week off so it took a while to get him to soften but when he did he had some lovely work. Now he’s getting strong again he is so much...

    Weekend Plans

Well, we are all feeling a bit low here! It’s hot, we are breaking heatwave records and will continue to be locked off from the world for an indefinite amount of time. Hopefully I’ll get a ride in Sunday morning if it cools down a little. Things look a little cooler in the week so I’m going to...

    Mid January Weekend Plans

We had a really super lesson, Coolie was great. I felt like things came flooding back to me and I was back into my pre becoming a mum groove. It was awesome. We were practicing tight turns for jump offs and coolie was 100% there for it. He thought it was great fun. We also practiced jumping...
