    Horse shopping - assistance needed

my only bit of advice is do not overhorse yourself.... there are many threads on here where people have hit problems and the horse they could manage at his home yard turns into something much more forward going and quirky. its difficult to find what you are looking for height wise, do you...

Advice on gettig our first dog - a whippet

Second the sensitive stomachs my whippet with a bit of bedlington and collie in is fine on the food that I give him, however he picks up so much stuff on walks which make him sick , it’s a nightmare, he is only 4 months so I’m hoping he will grow out of it as I’ve had 2 vet visits recently as he...

I was the biggest idiot today, really f’d up

these things happen, horses can be so unpredictable , just think if you had been holding him in a headcollar you could have been badly injured, half a ton of horse going full pelt is no match for a human. he is likely to be fine tomorrow, dont be too hard on yourself..

    Observation from dressage writing

i didnt see her trotting but when she walked out the horse was striding out well , i particularly looked to see if he was taking a shorter stride on one leg but it looked absolutely even to me... i think i will have to look at the test again so i can see what the judge at C saw...

    Observation from dressage writing

I am watching the world dressage champs and they have just eliminated one of the Irish team for being unlevel, I was getting the dogs food ready and only came in as she was talking to the judge so didn’t see the test, apparently she was only a quarter way through the test. I am cross I missed...

    Hobbies after giving up horses

giving up has been forced on me and i am still missing the horsey fix...i increased my dogs to 3 and do lots in the greenhouse/garden to keep busy. during the very hot weather i must admit i lazed about and i havent managed to get as enthusiastic about the garden since but still walk the dogs...

Is horse insurance required - any recommendations on what should be covered ?

for a 23 year old i would think the premiums would be very high. i would join the BHS gold membership or similar as that will give you 3rd party insurance for less than £10 a month. you could get quotes for insurance and maybe put the amount of the premium away in a separate account each...

    Fleas

my dogs have had an outbreak of fleas this year , first time in over 12 years but this time is much worse. dogs have been treated for the last couple of months, house has been well and truly sprayed, all the nooks and crannies done. i only have carpet upstairs and did that really well, so i...

    Irresponsible Owners

My front door is a stable door so that my dogs can’t get to anyone who knocks. I find it really useful and wish I had thought of it with my previous house.. if I have anyone who is going to do any work I ask if they are ok with dogs, if not they either get shut in the garden or put on leads so...

Off to visit a GSD breeder!

Off to visit a GSD breeder!

its not the extendable leads, its the idiots on the end of them.... i use one on my puppy at the moment on his harness as recall is not yet properly established and there are many places that i cannot yet let him off lead. i practice recall with this lead on so he gets the feeling he is...
