    Field shelter questions and recommendations

I am looking at putting up a field shelter for my 2 ponies, one about 11hh and one currently about 13.2 to make about 14hh. I have a concrete base where it will be put up which is sheltered by the back of a cow shed. The idea is that it will then allow me 24/7 hour turnout unless it gets really...

    Fly mask and big forelocks

I bought this one for the same reason - the fore lock just sits over the mask. They seem to sit nicely and neither of my two have managed to remove them yet! https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06XRGP7SR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1

    Grazing muzzle despair!

I have the thinline and haven't had any problems with the muzzle rubbing but have put some sheepskin pads around the noseband. It has been surprisingly resilient, I thought that it would tear really quickly but has lasted over a year.

Pony - short legs and farrier

My farrier either uses his knee or turns his stand on the side for my little pony as otherwise it is too high.

    Hot Weather management tips

I have a dilemma at the moment, my two usually come in during the day and out at night with my little Welsh pony muzzled (thinline muzzle) when out and given a small amount of soaked hay during the day. My stables get pretty warm so I don't want to leave them in all day over the next 2 days. I...

    Random fight between my dogs?

I have had the odd fight between Bunny and my old two - very quick and more noise than anything with nobody getting hurt and usually over something like a chew. I don't leave them alone and no chews are allowed unless Bunny is in her run and she is in her run at night and during the day if I am...

    Older dog and accidents

I am giving one of my old dogs something called Activait as she was showing some signs of senility - she can't go as long at night without needing to pee, although does come and tell me that she wants to go out, it just depends if I actually wake up or not. She can still find her way around but...

    Alternatives to Protexin?

My pony always gets very sloppy droppings if she changes field and I use the Protexin quick fix syringe for a few days, it works really quickly and it doesn't look like it has alfalfa in it - might be worth a try? She doesn't get a feed as she really doesn't need anything extra, so this works...

I found something worse to ride in than my saddle!

It's interesting how experiences differ, I have a Barefoot Cheyenne and have had for years. Both my cobs went really well in it and I felt really connected to them when I was riding, I rode miles at a time. I was only hacking so it may be different if trying to school or jump. It did take a...

    Water bowl recommendations....

After watching her drag a ceramic one along and tip it over, I think she would still manage to chew and spill one of those - but anything is worth a try, thank you :-)

    Water bowl recommendations....

I've got the crates ones with a metal ring that clamps to the bars and then the bowl slots in - she just removes the bowl and then starts playing with the ring! She seems to have a thing about metal - she keeps stealing the fire poker to play with :-) I saw the rabbit dropper post, I dread to...

    Water bowl recommendations....

A bit of a strange question! Bunny has taken to playing with her water bowls when she is in her crate / run - either at night or during the day. The crate / run has plenty of space, her night time one is in my bedroom and her day one in the lounge. I have tried all sorts of water bowls -...

grazing muzzle wearing down front teeth

I had problems with the greenguard rubbing the chins of both my pony and cob. I bought a thinline last year for my pony and found it was great - I like that it isn't too close fitting so didn't seem too hot. I was worried that it would break easily but was a lot more robust than I expected and...
