    2014 Foals Where are you????????????

Are we now at the height of foaling season - when are most foals born? I thought with thoroughbreds it was deliberately early, Jan/Feb, bearing in mind that they will race as 2 year olds. Must be a very exciting but busy time for the bigger studs.

Do all insurers exclude following a claim?

Hi Comet! Please update us as to how you get on. I am currently in midst of arguing extent of exclusions with Animal Friends as well. Good luck!

Would you insure with these exclusions?

My mare is 1/10th lame behind under flexion but sound otherwise and vet links this to her back. She has had nerve blocks to identify cause of soundness and they didn't reveal anything specific, hence vet linking it to back soreness. It has also improved as her back has improved. Splint caused...

Would you insure with these exclusions?

I am speaking to the vet later this week and am going to raise the possibility of ulcers with him, as my mare is so girthy and difficult to keep weight on - a few people have suggested it to me. If he thinks its worth scoping her I will get it done. I'll claim that and then of course everything...

Would you insure with these exclusions?

Yes, the bone scan is much more specific than an x-ray - I guess your vet will advise you if he/she can't make a diagnosis from the x-ray alone. Hope it all works out for you.

Would you insure with these exclusions?

Hi, it's with Animal Friends. I have to say they accepted the claim quickly and are very good at rersponding promptly, so no qualms on that front. My mare had a spine x-ray first which was fine. Then she had a ligament scan and it identified some possible degeneration. Vet advised 2 weeks...

Would you insure with these exclusions? (also posted Tack Room)

Hi, I am in two minds about whether I continue to insure my mare or just put some money aside to cover vets bills instead. Would welcome any thoughts! My mare was investigated for back soreness and has slight lumbar impingement at L2/L3 (loin area). She has had a corticosteroid injection and is...

    Reliably informed £300K :-)

    Eventing euros tv/online coverage

This wasn't part of the commentary. WFP doesn't have an individual medal and this was possibly not going to be the strongest team performance. H&H reported the 'official line'.

    Eventing euros tv/online coverage

WFP swapped to Chilli with the chance of an individual medal in mind; Lionheart would have been the safer team horse, but Chilli more likely to finish in the medals. Really hope he gets one. Looking promising :-)

How long for BS to sort out membership?

Give them a call, they sorted mine in just a couple of days. Very efficient. Even if you didn't have your membership cards back in time, they can tell you yours and your horse's numbers so you can still compete.

    Harry Meade's fall?

I didn't see it myself but have heard that horse tried to bank fence two, Harry has broken both elbows and is in Basingstoke hospital for surgery. Wishing him a speedy recovery. But for the grace of god go we.

Thanks everyone, looking forward to a spot of retail therapy at Blenheim! Would love to see photos of any of you competing in brown or navy/brown :-)

BS riders -can I match blue jacket with brown hat/boots?

Hi all, not a desperately high brow thread admittedly, but just wondering what a brown hat and brown boots would look like with a blue jacket? I am in the market for a soft shell SJ jacket and also a new hat. I like the look of the JTE sprint ultra leather hat but it only comes in black or...

Has anyone had a lesson with a Int SJ or Eventer in South East

Hi, you could try Mark Corbett in Tadley/Basingstoke for both SJ and xc. He teaches at home, Rawlins Farm, or will travel to you. He has regular clinics at Parwood in Normandy, Nr Guildford. Mark is the South East BE under 18 coach and has a lot of experience...

Lorry - Invertor, 12v and hook up

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0094FXPSG BaByliss gas hair styling brush. I found it a bit cheaper on good old eBay :D It's not amazing, but better than nothing.

Lorry - Invertor, 12v and hook up

I understand the hairdryer dilemma! After much consideration I spent £12.99 on a gas-powered hair styler brush thingy. It's not fantastic but better than nothing. :p

still waiting for new Ideal saddle

I ordered through The Horse Boutique (they had a really good deal on) rather than ordering direct with Ideal. I am loathed to cancel the order, although The Horse Boutique has offered me a full refund due to the delay. They are also hassling Ideal and getting the same crap customer service...

still waiting for new Ideal saddle

Update: Now almost June and still waiting for the saddle due in mid April. Ideal's customer services team leaves something to be desired. Can't even tell me when the saddle will go into production. Useless! Off to phone them again .......

looking for livery in newbury/surrounding areas

I think so, certainly one of the liveries has her children's pony there as well as her horse. Mark and Sian are happy to accommodate all sorts; some of the liveries event, some are riding clubbers, some are just happy hackers.

looking for livery in newbury/surrounding areas

Mark Corbett's yard in Charter Alley? Just off the A339 Basingstoke side of Newbury, other side of Kingsclere. He predominantly offers competition livery, but is flexible. Obviously coaching available onsite. Have a look at his website (Rawlins Farm) if you are interested.

BE rules re coloured saddle pads

I would always do dressage with a white saddle pad but are there any BE rules re coloured saddle pads for SJ? Am thinking of investing in an Ecogold sweat wicking saddle pad but at £100+ I thought I should check before choosing a navy blue one for SJ and XC. Can't see anything in the BE...

Sorry I don't know much about Iping or Purston, but ALW is often used as a first novice. You can also xc school there, so that might be of interest to you.

Ideal Suzannah/Ideal Roella dressage saddles (also posted in CR)

Hi, Frustratingly I am still awaiting my new Ideal Suzannah dressage saddle (ordered in January) and am starting to give up hope. The saddler I ordered it through has been chasing Ideal but sadly their customer service is non-existent. She is starting to wonder whether it will ever get made...
