    Anyone in east lancs?

Thank you - already a member and am yet to find anyone (reliable) in my area. Met a few but I am bored of being let down.

    Anyone in east lancs?

I am looking for a hacking buddy, someone who is available evenings and weekends. I’m in BL7 area, North Turton.

    Would you move?

Considering a move to get better hacking - looking at a few options and one of the better options has had a case of grass sickness last year. Don’t know a right lot about it so have done some reading and it seems to be very mysterious, definitive cause unknown. Several theories but nothing...

Strangest question I have ever asked

Thank you - I have got the padded covers for the bars front and back, partition out already. I have some EVA mats so I’ll try that thank you.

Strangest question I have ever asked

I could, though don’t know who I could turn to in my area. I’m in Lancashire if anyone can recommend anyone.

Strangest question I have ever asked

I’ll look this up - but it makes sense to me what you’re saying, though is not the ‘natural’ thing I think of first. I have taken him off the trailer when he’s kicked off because it’s bloody scary and I don’t want him hurt himself - though totally agree this says to him ‘act...

Strangest question I have ever asked

    Yes, fine in company.

Strangest question I have ever asked

Only in company, he was fine. I could hire one and try I suppose, though I suspect it will be a waste of £80 or whatever it costs to hire a 3.5 tonner. Plus if it is separation anxiety would that make a difference?

Strangest question I have ever asked

That’s a great idea thank you - I’ll do this. It rattles in the metal on metal way you say.

Strangest question I have ever asked

Thank you - I agree I think it is anxiety being alone. He’s fine in company, lamb-like. My aim is to build him up on short journeys, but my issue right now is that I can’t even get him to stand in the trailer for more than a minute (at best) before he starts. His cue for starting with the...

Strangest question I have ever asked

Ear bonnet or good old fashioned cotton wool? Haven’t tried this and I’m open to trying most things. My trailer is pretty noisy - it’s a 505 classic.

Strangest question I have ever asked

    Tried it, hasn’t helped.

Strangest question I have ever asked

Afternoon all, I have posted a few times about my travelling woes with my otherwise perfect pony. In brief - for those who aren’t familiar - fine in company but kicks off alone, to all intent and purpose it appears to be anxiety being alone. I’ve had a professional out who got him loading...

    A stompy traveller

Thank you all - I will keep plugging away at it. I have 'booked in' with a friend to get him out in company this weekend and we'll just keep practising in the meantime. Realistically once we have cracked this he'll be out in the trailer a few times a week at least as I'm fast getting to the...

    A stompy traveller

I thought I'd come back and give an update for those who might be interested. We spent time practising loading, standing on the trailer with a net of haylage as a distraction, and then walking off. All good, providing the food was there and I didn't disappear from view. As soon as I put the...

    Poles for schooling

Thank you everyone! Wooden poles it is then :). I feel a day of painting coming on!

    Poles for schooling

Yes having something with a square edge would be handy, it’s just the timber element I’m concerned about. They’d get a real soaking on a regular basis and I’d be miffed having to replace them regularly. Can’t decide what to do for best!

    Poles for schooling

Do you think using drain pipes, putting some sand in, and end caps would work? I can’t really afford spending a few hundred on poles at the moment but would love to be able to use poles at home.

    Poles for schooling

Hi All Looking for recommendations please for some trotting poles. My arena is high up and exposed, and we get a lot of weather. I’m going to and fro with wooden or plastic poles. I’d prefer plastic for the longevity, and ease of moving. Wood would get very wet and I have no where...

I have 2 boys, one is ridden and the other has elected to be a companion. I had planned to ride and lead. After several attempts I decided against it. Boys 🙄

    Trailer & yard anti-theft ideas

At night I park my pick up in front of it, but during the day both vehicles are out unfortunately. We are next door to a farm and there’s always people about so I hope that will help as it’s not very often that the place is totally deserted.

Anchor them into the ground? I have got a bulldog hitchlock on it already. Wondering if it’s worth buying a wheel lock too? Will take a look at the tracker 👍🏻

    Trailer & yard anti-theft ideas

Opportunist thieves are combing the area I live looking for easy targets. There have been several reports of people in the area catching them snooping around, checking places out, caught on cctv sneaking around yards and properties, and even using drones to scope out properties. I am going to...

    Livery stable Lancaster

I can't think of any in the immediate area of Lancaster but there are yards between Lancaster and Quernmore, another in Nether Kellet, Swarthdale I think it's called, there's a few Caton/Hornby way. Probably some Lancaster south too out towards Glasson Dock. Failing that join a Facebook group...

If I were to try this method do you think it would be better to leave one or both ramps down, or put both up to mirror how it would be during travel?

    A stompy traveller

Thanks - no offence taken. I had previously done this, just got on with it, been careful driving and not made a fuss. I saw no improvement, previous owner did the same and just got on with it and ‘accepted’ he was going to do it (though always made sure he was as safe as can be). Again...

Thank you - in a way I employed this method when I’ve been doing my little and often training with him, or at least have tried. Albeit I haven’t let him totally kick off and ignored it and make him self soothe, simply I haven’t been brave enough. Perhaps I haven’t done it for long...
