    Burghley Tickets Where?

There's 4 of us that are car sharing and will want to go on the xc day which I think is the Saturday? What is the best way to buy tickets do you think, as I'll be buying all 4 and the parking too in advance. TIA.

Good hacking in Derbyshire Dales / Staffordshire???

Parking is in the reservoir, it was £2 the last time we went. Fabulous hacking there. Think about joining Sport Endurance UK. Or there's other clubs too. We have rides most weekends and you don't have to be an endurance rider to do it, just enjoy your horse and riding in new places.

Horses out on bridleway - what to do?

I always believed that if there is a barrier or obstacle, you have the right to go around it until you can safely return to the oath? Having said that though when faced with exactly the same situation as the OP, I've asked permission to use an alternative route with everyone's agreement, land...

Do you prefer riding in long boots or short boots?

No ones mentioned safety, so I will. Having had a bad fall at gallop, if I hadn't of been wearing my long Ariats im convicted I would of suffered a badly broken ankle. As it was I thankfully only suffered a blackened and swollen one for 2 weeks instead! I was also able to get back on and ride...

    Puppy neutering

Because as a bitch owner myself I go by the rule if in season, she stays in till it's over. I grew up with this rule, it used to be taken for granted and as I've already said, bitches are the baby machines so if you don't want to be pestered or have a litter keep her at home or spay her......simples

    Puppy neutering

Sorry but I've never understood the rush to neuter? I've had dogs all my 57 years and have never felt the need? My dogs are allowed to be entire, I have never bred or had problems with sex crazed dogs racing around the country desperate to bitch?! If your daft enough to walk your bleeding in...

How much can a Welsh cob carry?

They're all different, just like us. Trouble is we are to wrapped up with the thought of the fat girl squashing a poor pony when in effect there's many, many ponies out there in the world that are just to much for a kid or light rider, so they are relegated to nothing more than an unused field...

    dog attack

Some years ago I took in my sister's beautiful Doberman bitch who had a history of biting. She was a pretty dobe, really sweet and gentle with her family but would just attack a stranger. I thought as I'm "good" with animals that I could sort her out but ultimately we took 2 steps forward and 1...

    Sending Away, Who Feels Guilty?

Thank you all. I'm feeling surprisingly better this afternoon as I sit in front of the fire on such a miserable wet afternoon.

    Sending Away, Who Feels Guilty?

I'm sat here, it's late and I should really be in bed asleep, relaxed and relieved of all my worries as my pony went to his lovely loan home today, but I'm not. Instead I feel dreadful, I feel guilty and sad too!? As some of you know from my previous posts, I've badly broken and displaced my...

    Somerford Exmoor Pony Camp Report

Oh well done. It's not easy to step outside your comfort zone but it sounds that's just what you did and you conquered your fears. Takes big ones to do that and I applaud you for that. P.S., isn't Sommerford awesome

LWVTB. Safe To Do As A Seller?

Thankyou. I blow hot and cold and need to sort my head out, it's unfair on everyone else I know that. Loosing my mare last Year and becoming so attached to a 14.2 pony during such a difficult time, was certainly not in the plan and now this break?!?? Makes me want to scream!

LWVTB. Safe To Do As A Seller?

Thankyou everyone and I guess that's a no then?! . Well I have an update. Poor boy came up from the field lame this afternoon so no sale obviously and an embarrassed me! I know why so I'm not to panicked. I have a badly broken wrist and that is the reason that the boy had been...

LWVTB. Safe To Do As A Seller?

No vices and no blemishes, not even sweetitch! Yes, hes a sought after type and a Mr chilled out boy so I don't see any issue with his move to a new home. Mmmm, I'm thinking no LWVTB or the promise of return should it not work out, though of course I would do just that for the pony sake and my...

LWVTB. Safe To Do As A Seller?

I do have another interested buyer who I'm sure would just buy as he is with no LWVTB. However I did like the young rider and so did he I think. It's a tricky one. They're coming back tomorrow with daddy to do a deal, I need to make my mind up and stick to it.

LWVTB. Safe To Do As A Seller?

They are an hour away. The pony is not the issue, its me they are concered about and the tight relationship I have with the pony, they are concerned he will not settle with them as he's so attached to me. I get those longing looks from him and he's like my big puppy dawg. Great daft thing! I am...

LWVTB. Safe To Do As A Seller?

I have buyer for my pony. Theyve tried him this afternoon and are very keen to have him. They appear to offer the perfect home and for him to go to a young girl and go out and have fun I couldn't be happier with although I know it will be a hard wrench to my heart to let him go. They could...

    Is Scope at Oswestry permanently?

It seems a daft move from Stafford which was an ideal location for such a big festival, as regards to the showground being so close to the M6 etc. Of course it's all got to do with money rather than amenities I'm guessing.

    Horse ground behaviour vs ridden

My mare was a complete nightmare in hand and other people were terrified of her so much so they wouldn't bring her in when she was a youngster, I could of course no problem. Ridden, she was a complete dream if a horse, yes she could spin and at times nap but I used to say she was all mouth and...

The day of PTS/last time you see them

Sadly I was faced with the same in December. I too had turned my mare away for a year in a big field with a few friends. She'd had a good 16 months unridden retirement and yes, we'd gone through a kind of weaning period where I didn't see her sometimes for a couple of weeks at a time. This...
