    Symphony, Solo and Serenade

Yes, 3 ponies and Shannon. In fact, they feature in 4 books by Diana Pullein-Thompson:

    Bit of reassurance needed please!

Why don't you call them and ask if you're worried? It might be that it would be better to have him in a v. small fenced off area instead of a stable.

Well done Rara! Sounds like you did great!

    Advice please... I cannot canter!

I would definitely agree with trying to relax - I have had this problem myself! The more tense you get the less balanced and forward thinking the horse will be. It sounds like this horse takes advantage of that to run on instead of changing pace. Would also agree with a lunge lesson or perhaps...

Pullein-Thompson book - bit of a long shot

I can highly recommend this site for info about pony books and buying them second hand: I'm not connected to her honest!

    riding whilst pregnant

The guidelines say that there is no particular reason to stop, except that your centre of gravity changes from about 5/6 months gone and you may feel less secure in the saddle. i am 13 weeks and still riding 3 times a week. I have given up jumping and hacking alone, but still do schooling and...

    Oh, how quickly they forget

Ziggy has some really good ideas there. I would also say, if she is specifically becoming attached to the YO's horse, could they be put in different fields? I would try and avoid pair separation anxiety if possible.

    Is £20 too much??

We are in south warks and pay £28 for that. So no.

    Another what do you think?

I like Bonnie, and would consider the last one. Don't really like the black mare, and can't really tell anything about the welsh one from the photos.

    Update on impossible canter lead!

that's good news - well done! I have found in the past few weeks that my horse (who avoids right canter) is much more reliable when asked from a really strong bouncy trot - maybe that is similar to your situation (e.g. he is more forward when jumping)

    What do you think?

He does look nice. The advert seems a little vague - competed at what level? How did he do?

    Competition name needed....

I like Va Va Voom and Razor Blaze (or Razor Blade) Or just Blazer? Blazer Trail? Blue Blazer?

following on from post below - how do you deep litter?

I have also been wanting to ask this but felt I couldn't post about it! My horse always pees in the same place, so one part gets wet before the rest, is that okay?

    Poll - field arrangements

If you had been warned about this guy's horse I expect that he was watching because he was worrying about his horse being aggressive, not yours! I'm sure they will get used to it quickly, don't worry!

At the end of a loan, what would you do?

If it was my horse I would take him back if I wanted him. I wouldn't consider moving house, that seems excessive to me. Was he unhappy in his previous home?

    Advice / Update

I'm by no means an expert, but it sounds to me like he might have lost fitness since the summer. If he only needs to do fast work once a week, it might not be enough to keep him used to it. Is that a possibility?

Bit of fun ... what is your favourite horsey pic in someones Siggie ..

I like Weezy's old one of her riding through a field of rape. I think Deefa had a good one of galloping, like chex's as well.

I feel REALLY sick - how people can change....

Last year there was a thread on HHO about my great uncle, who was convicted of horse cruelty. I didn't get involved on the thread because there was no point, but often these cases are more complex than meets the eye. My great uncle certainly never harmed a horse on purpose, he loved his horses...

    sheath cleaning

if my share horse's sheath is looking mucky I squirt some baby oil on it. This loosens all the muck up without touching it, and makes it pretty clean. Definitely don't use soap.

Conformation & Condition Critique please - All opinions welcome!

I think he is on the slightly curvy side, but that is probably a good place to be at this time of year.

    Horsey Sharers...

I have been sharing a horse for 2 and 1/2 years and it has gone very well. I think the secrets are lots of communication and being a little bit flexible - i.e. not worrying too much if the stable is mucked out differently to how you'd do it.

Impossible canter lead? ideas please? bit long sorry.

It sounds like you think he is avoiding left canter lead on purpose. That makes me wonder why that would be? My horse avoids right canter lead, but I know that he is pretty stiff on the right rein and if he really finds it hard I spend time loosening him up on that rein (doing transitions and...
