    Wasting my pony?

Who pays the bills? You do. Why on earth would do something you don't enjoy*? Because your horse sure won't care! (*excluding that which is essential for the wellbeing of the horse...)

    Now its flipping fly time!

I'm just here to ask if the OP actually intended to title this thread "Flipping" fly time - or was that forum autocorrect?! Yes, bloody wee buggers are out in force. Grr.

    Pictures Show off

What a clean tail  I mean, horse is lovely, but the clean tail is impressive!

    Easter weekend plans :)

Super photos, Chippers and Bernster. Moving in the right direction is absolutely worth celebrating! Also belated Loaniversary to MP and Millie (who I adore, even more so now she's growing old with disgrace!). I followed a bridleway on an OS map yesterday while exploring and ended up in a...

Pictures And now for something completely different...? (Well there's no prefix for it, anyway!)

That's bloody brilliant - I love it! Clever orange ears going over without fuss. I really like the idea of using the natural surroundings to create "PTV on the POR" obstacles - so in your case: 1. Weir bridge of dooooom 2. Garrotting wire: sliding stop, side pass along wire, and continue on...

    Easter weekend plans :)

Might come and do some photos on Sunday if: a) I can get away and b) That's ok with you :p

    Easter weekend plans :)

Perhaps we shouldn't post about the imminent GBH incident on a public forum? :p The police might find my "accidental shooting" argument doesn't hold too much water!

    Easter weekend plans :)

Ashfields? Saturday or Sunday? I'm hacking with some ex-HHOers on Saturday morning, then going to view a horse (not for me!). The rest of the weekend will be hacking, hacking, hacking - unless I manage to put some jumps out in the field. Dull. I'm hooked on the idea of shooting things and...

    Video Having a confidence crisis!!

He's rising 5 - it's not your nerves holding you back (or it shouldn't be!) - it's his age. He's young and you should be taking things nice and slow. Not jumping on a sponsored ride is a perfectly reasonable "young horse" adjustment - they're often complete carnage at fences anyway, I'd always...

    Boots.. do you use them?

I did tend to bandage when doing a lot of lateral work (or for polocrosse type stupidity). For stick and balling I tended to use front boots in case I caught a leg with a racquet. I tend to boot fronts (tendons, hard shell) if jumping, though haven't one so recently as jumping small on...

I'd love to - provided it doesn't involve any exposed mountain tops :p

That's my mentality... But apparently I'm evil :p

Feed and work advise for the behind

Not really - flexions etc will not necessarily give any information on more complex lameness issues or non-lameness related issues (e.g. BP's post re- worm burden). I'd suggest that "short behind" is quite possibly bilateral lameness, or tension of some description. It is certainly a physical...

Pictures And now for something completely different...? (Well there's no prefix for it, anyway!)

Sniggers. I threatened to set a POR route alongside the dual carriageway (on the bridleway on the other side of a fence) and the committee members nearly had a breakdown :p

Pictures And now for something completely different...? (Well there's no prefix for it, anyway!)

Yea it's not perfect. Oddly lots of our bridleways aren't even marked on OS maps (on viewranger or on actual maps!). It does make it tricky!

The wheels of progress are slow to turn, here. But they are turning - fractionally and with all the inertia of an elephant being squeezed into a fridge. Clearly you won't see the back of me then, if the master plan comes off!

Feed and work advise for the behind

He doesn't need more food. He needs to get out and walk, walk, walk for hours - not an hour twice a week - but proper, decent slow hacking. That's assuming he's sound, capable and not suffering from some underlying issue - which is a big assumption at present.

Oh and I meant to say, NLPM, highlands are fine, thanks! They've had a bit of a quiet winter what with circumstances, but they're out hacking all the time and generally getting into mischief! Fergus the other day: Dae when I got home from archery (he "aten't dead", honest!):

Pictures And now for something completely different...? (Well there's no prefix for it, anyway!)

Well there are places that do that officially, but if you're in the east, you could borrow a highland ;) I think field archery sounds terrifying - targets further away, and no excuse for screwing it up! She is pretty epic. She's not bad for a rising 6 baby ;) Meep, that's quite some...

Pictures And now for something completely different...? (Well there's no prefix for it, anyway!)

I'd rather shoot them. Why do you think I've taken up archery? :p Probably wise :o I get wobbly looking at some of the mountain type POR scenes. I'm not OK with heights. I don't even like horses over about 15,2 :p

I'd recommend Denny's book too. It's really good reading.

That is somewhat what the channel of poles is for - to remove the need to steer! But the mare is pretty epic - she just gets on with her job. I think she prefers it when I have something to do, saves me interfering with her! :D

Pictures And now for something completely different...? (Well there's no prefix for it, anyway!)

Nah it's epic, you don't need to be brave at all! You should give it a go. Didn't know the club up your way runs from your yard... I have my eye on them if the master plan comes off ;) Ha, well I'm going with the TD so hopefully won't get lost and die out there in the wilderness ;)...

Pictures And now for something completely different...? (Well there's no prefix for it, anyway!)

It's totally epic, and you should. If you shoot left handed / the wrong way round it should be ok - I think the issue comes if you shoot right handed being left eyed! But again, I don't know what I'm on about really :p I'm sure yours will be fine - the coach reckoned he had a pretty high...

Totally! It's great fun, you should try it if you get the chance! She is pretty epic, and her concentration face is a lot nicer than mine! I'm just back from a TREC committee meeting, actually. I feel like I need committing to some kind of asylum now :p You'd be very welcome - though where...

Pictures And now for something completely different...? (Well there's no prefix for it, anyway!)

Is it? I may have to make a habit of it... I've been cantering Dae around the countryside this afternoon, standing up in shooting position and turning round to shoot (invisible) targets behind me with my (invisible) bow :p I'm not sure I trust myself with a shot gun. I'd probably shoot...
