    Breast Cancer and riding

I was diagnosed in 2011. Had right breast removed followed by chemo and radiotherapy. I had a TRAM flap reconstruction two years later. I had to wear a corset for three months post surgery and was told not to ride for those three months either. No heavy lifting etc either. Don't start doing...

Tips on dust free stabling needed..

Mine had to go on to dust free shavings and so did his companion next door ( only a two stable setup at home ). Soaking and steaming hay made no difference so went on to haylage whch made a HUGE difference! Before mine developed his 'thing' he had been given his ( steamed) hay in a haybar for...

    Should i pay the bill?

As 'money is not a problem' for the OP, i don't really see why there is an issue at all! OP might not legally be obliged to pay for X-rays, however, if I were her I would get X-rays done and paid for and take it from there. Squabbling over who 'should' pay for what is surely detrimental to the...

hmm... and that makes a good farrier???

I left Alsace last summer having lived there for 9 years. My farrier was definitely the best farrier I've ever had. Don't know which 'end' of Alsace you -re at but if you're not happy with your farrier and you're within 'range' I would highly recommend Romuald Pfeiffer, you'll find his website...

How long can a horse survive trapped in thicket

I agree it is baffling but it does go on all over the place. Unfortunately not all horse owners are caring, responsible individuals. I have been on several different yards over the years ranging from very basic to very posh. And there were incidents taking place in all of them regarding careless...

No worries, just a shame it's out in the open now that I'm 55 and no spring chicken!

How long can a horse survive trapped in thicket

I said a lot of posts came across as blaming the OP, I never named anybody. I know it is a result of chaotic horse care but again, that is not the OP's fault is it?

How long can a horse survive trapped in thicket

Of course it's completely appalling, but not the OP's fault!! Yet a lot of posts come across as if she is to blame

How long can a horse survive trapped in thicket

Exactly! Like you say, it is the rest of the owners/ rest of the situation which is the issue. Which has nothing to do with the OP, so why keep going on and on and on at her? Pointless much?

How long can a horse survive trapped in thicket

I'm not surprised!! Typical responses from the 'usual suspects'......... What it must be like to live in a perfect world.... I, for one, think you have done all you could/ can in this situation. I really don't understand why people seem to be holding you personally responsible for your...

Why do some people have horses.

Wouldn't be Tom would it? On the standard question every buyer asks " how old is the horse"?, his reply was normally " how old do you want it to be".......

Advert phrases that put you off

Morning all! I have been asked by a friend to help her put an advert together to sell her horses. What would put you off instantly? Phrases? Endless rambling? Fluffy bunny stuff?

    Who pays? Trailer dilemma

As the owner of the trailer I would not ask for a contribution. As the friend, I would definitely offer to go at least halves, regardless of your personal situation.

    Road Accidents.

". Although I now live in France, part of my decision was because I was sick to the back teeth of keeping a 7.5 ton lorry on the road to transport my bomb proof horses 5 miles!! to keep them safe from selfish and ignorant motorists. " Interesting you should say that. I have lived in rural...

Converting double garage to indoor stabling? Anyone done it?

Yes, we did this! It was a double with two up and over doors. We took the doors out, put in a partition wall ( not full hight ) and built stable fronts where the doors were. Like yours, it was brick built with a pitch roof and concrete floor. I had my 16.1 hh TB in there with his companion...

    How to preserve a tail?

Thanks for replies. It is just the hair, not the complete tail. I have also thought about the jewelry, but for now just want to keep it safe until I feel 'ready' to do something with it. Reassuring to know it can last 40 odd years, never would have thought that!

    How to preserve a tail?

Bit of an odd question I know, but I lost my beautiful boy yesterday and have kept his tail. It is plaited. I don't want it to perish so how do I keep/treat it? Many thanks
