    Allergic Reaction to Neoprene Girth

Just wanted to know if anyone else has had a problem with a neoprene girth or even just neoprene!! My daughter's little Section A had a new girth on Friday which was a short neoprene dressage girth. On Saturday she could barely walk and had a huge swelling in between her legs as well as big...

    Best cordless clippers

I have seen what looks like a fab set of cordless clippers - Wolseley Jay clippers which you can either use clipper blades on or trimmer blades. My current Heiniger Handy clippers are too heavy for me to use really so I'm looking for something lighter and I like the Jay's as they are quiet and...

New loan horse dragging hind toes and feeling a bit weird behind!!

Got lovely new loan horse on Saturday - he's a ex racehorse who retired and went hunting. He's done nothing for about 6 months and has come to me to hunt and do bits and bobs. He is a rangy, leggy, fairly weak looking horse who is in his teens I think. I don't think he's ever done any schooling...

    Best good trimmers

I've got some Wolseley Skylark trimmers which are pretty rubbish in my opinion! I'm looking to get some new better ones. They need to be able to do faces/armpits/tricky bits well and efficiently. Any thoughts? Price not really an issue as long as they are good. I've got Heineger Handy Clippers...

When can I take muzzle off?!!

Got a little 11h Section A that has had very bad laminitis in the past (before we got her) and as a result, she only ever goes out with a muzzle on and is fine. She's in medium work - exercised every day led off a big horse and then hunts on a Saturday with my 7 year old. She's looking good...

How much does the grass grow from now on?

Just curious about how much the grass grows in Oct/Nov as we've had our first frost this morning but its beautiful sunshine now and supposed to be every day for the next week. We did have torrential rain for 24 hours and about an inch of rain in the rain gauge. 2 years ago, the grass just...

    Best Devil's Claw liquid

Thinking of trying some Devil's Claw on my horse who has slightly arthritic hocks. He had them jabbed last year but it didn't make much difference and I'm keen to try something else. Devil's claw has been suggested. Can anyone recommend which brand of the liquid they use and whether its made...

    Best hedge to plant

Having had a few incidents recently where the neighbours horses and mine have had an argument over the fence, I'm wanting to plant a hedge between our 2 fields. There are 2 lines of fencing, their's and ours and about a foot in between. Our fence is solid and in good condition. Their's is...

Best LED Flashing Colour & iPhone Locator

My wonderful little lurcher has suddenly gone very deaf and a bit dotty. I lost her last night when she went out for a pee (first time this has happened) and I eventually located her sitting in the middle of a large field by the house doing I don't know what. She didn't hear me calling obviously...

    Healthiest nicest chaff?

As above - looking for a nice healthy herbal chaff to add a tiny bit of bulk to food (only fed speedibeet and supplements/salt). Horse is currently on Top Chop Zero but I'd rather feed something a bit less processed. Any thoughts? He is sensitive to certain foods so it can't be high in sugar/starch.

Horses out on bridleway - what to do?

We have a few bridleways round us, none of which are much cop to be honest. Some people have recently bought a house locally with some fields and one of the bridleways goes straight through one of the fields. It is just a nice loop to be able to do instead of riding down the road and having...

Horse with a slant mouth - anyone had one?

Physio was out last night looking at horse and we've always wondered a bit why he has a big muscle across his forehead on his left side. We looked at his teeth and realised he has a slant mouth (chews on one side and so incisors are worn down on one side and mouth slants and doesn't line up...

Cost of a 30 ft long steel framed barn

We are thinking of pulling down our rubbish old wood stables which are used for hay and storage and replacing with a 30 ft long steel framed barn presumably with concrete blocks at the back and sides. I think we would put it up ourselves so basically just the steel, roof and cladding we would be...

K&M saddles - are they all made the same?

Just a musing I had this morning about adjustable saddles. Are they all made exactly the same and then a different gullets put in? So a narrow saddle and a xw saddle would be made identical with the same tree and then the correct gullet put in or are they made differently? Hope that makes...

    Dressage saddle fitting??

In the process of getting a secondhand dressage saddle. I know nothing about how a dressage saddle should sit so I could be wrong about this one!! Saddler came out and fitted a MW Ideal Jessica to my horse who has low withers but a bit of a wither if that makes sense. To me the saddle seems...

Measuring saddle fit with wither tracing

Just wanted to know if you can get a sensible idea about saddle fit by using a flexi curve to do a wither tracing and comparing it to the tree angle of the saddle by using the flexicurve to measure the piping on the saddle. My two measurements don't seem to correspond at all and want to make...

Can anyone recommend a good sort of saddle for a 15.1 LW cob with big shoulders, a barrel like body, a bit of a wither and can only take 17". Anything forward cut interferes with his shoulders. He is currently in a working hunter saddle with a forward cut flap on front but it is so bulky...
