    1000 miles hacking....anyone doing this??

I used OS mapfinder, i also downloaded saferider lite but cant get the gps to connect for some reason. The os mapfinder was pretty good though. It records time, average speed and distance as well as plot the route taken on a map. You can also save the trail which will make it easier to keep...

    1000 miles hacking....anyone doing this??

I have :) Im not a massive hacker but im intrigued as to whether we can hit the target in a year. Using one of the apps has been interesting already as didnt realise one of the shortish routes was as long as it was lol. Its pretty simple to sign up and the easiest way to track is to download...

How many horses do you actually know with ulcers?

Mine is a tbx, her only real signs are girthiness and the fact shes a cribber. Flip side though shes a good doer, not stressy, very easy going, no ridden quirks. So not quite typical ulcer horse to look at. But she got diagnosed with grade 2 ulcers in both parts of her stomach after a couple of...

    Cyclist'a lack of manners

Run into quite a few cyclists round me and the majority of the time they are OK, sometimes even say thanks (dont expect them to when i overtake at anything more than a crawl mind). When I'm on the horse a lot will even shout morning back at me which is nice :) But theres always a few that ruin...

    Solar powered electric fence unit

I bought one not too long ago off ebay. Very happy with it so far, works when cloudy/dark for a few days as it holds so much charge. I'm told it packs quite a punch too lol!

    Mutual Grooming?

I love it when they nuzzle back! But if a horse does nip i push their nose away first time and if they do it again i just stop. My girl rarely grooms me back though. When she does it's for a rather short time and usually on my neck or bum which is always funny :p She is slightly special...

Update on my Injured Gelding - Leg Wound

It's funny how different vets recommend different things :p mine wanted complete box rest for the first couple of weeks to limit movement on a similar but smaller knee injury. You do get different strengths of manuka honey and as far as I'm aware (not really tried it) the higher the number...

Update on my Injured Gelding - Leg Wound

No it shouldn't be on that long at all, its very good for a wound to be able to breath and dry off. I would ask the vet about taking it off personally, i mean if he's allowed out a bit i don't see why the bandage is still on, both times Oreos done similar injuries the bandage always came off...

Update on my Injured Gelding - Leg Wound

Wow that is looking so much better! I'm actually surprised you're still bandaging going on that picture, it's looking super clean and for lack of a more technical term..'filling in' well :)

Anyone else bored of no riding.....

Well he didn't waste any time doing that!! It is nice to hear of those unable to ride as they have retired horseys, see so many old horses for sale for peanuts at the minute which i always find sad. Good to see those that stand by their retirees :) Congrats shadowboy on your bundle of joy...

Sorry to hear all of you havent been able to ride for so long! And i hope all of you or your horses get better soon :) Puts my measly couple of weeks so far in perspective :p Congratulations Moomin1! Thats got to be one of the best reasons for not being able to ride at least :) Evie91 no...

Anyone else bored of no riding.....

Its been a week and a half since Oreo the idiot injured herself again and i am so utterly bored and frustrated not being able to ride! Especially since we were doing so well together, and merely 2 days beforehand got 68.2% in our second ever novice test :( No idea how she managed to do it...

    Individual Grazing

Personally i much much prefer it for my horse. She is quite antisocial and only gets on with certain individuals, generally only geldings. She once jumped out over a five bar gate (well more like flipped over it! :o ) as she hated being in such a big herd. A same sex herd would be the worst type...

Small report and sj instructor nr Hull?

Its been a long time since I've done a report! Well I've finished uni and Oreo is going great, we've not really got any transport anymore so have been hacking to a small local competition. Yesterday we tootled on over to go showjumping, i let my friend borrow her for the 65cm class and she...

    Ticks?

My girl had this happen whilst on box rest, she ended up with about 5 on her in the space of a few days. We ended up getting a vet on christmas eve as she had a nasty reaction to them. I believe they can be found in straw, and we got some stuff (sorry i cant remember what it was) prescribed...

    A positive livery yard post!

Have to add to this as i absolutely love the yard im on at the moment :) wonderful, friendly and helpful people. When oreo recently went down with colic, people stayed to help in any way they could, even just to keep me company in the cold, of which i was extremely grateful :). Plus i knew if i...

What are you looking forward too in 2014

Honestly not a lot at the moment! Final semester of uni and stress is building up at a rate of knots already :( But generally summer, i am so fed up of wet mud and mucking out. Also hopefully finally having a horse that isn't broken! Since christmas she has injured her stifle (**** knows how...

    Nicknames for your horse?

Oreo has a lot! At the minute its mostly cash cow! As she has cost a lot in vets fees through self inflicted injuries (which have rather suspicious timings!). Also donkey, gorgeous, twatface and a few ruder ones :p

    Would you stop?

Depends on the horse. With the spotty one, not a chance he's too impatient and I'd worry he'd trample them if he spooked, plus he'd be too rude being made to stand really. Oreo i have let some children stroke her as she's much more patient and less reactive, but only if i have time, it's safe...

Is anyone bored enough to help me find a horse?

Not sure what type of horse you like, but seems a dependable sort and is quite cheap http://www.adhorse.co.uk/horseforsale_57686.html 1 year older than you specified but a nice looking mare (that's related to my girl lol!) http://www.adhorse.co.uk/horseforsale_57672.html Lovely connemara...

    Disgusting Mare....

My mare is the same! She is the most messiest horse on the yard by a country mile!:o I've tried everything, straw (humongous and tiny bed), shavings(large and minimal again) and currently pellets with a couple of rubber mats. She is horrid on everything! You can start with a huge big clean bed...

    muscles atrophy?

I use http://www.toplinevetphysio.co.uk/index.php and they cover quite a few different areas so may be worth an ask? But otherwise no i don't, sorry.

    muscles atrophy?

Personally I'd get a good physio out. My girl had very obvious muscle atrophy on her hindquarters after injuring a back leg and compensating too much, she treated her and gave me some fab exercises to strengthen those specific weak areas. Her advice and treatments helped a lot, but it does take...

Why did I end up with the plank..?!?!

Haha! These are hilarious! :D My girl is definitely not known for being the most ladylike or the smartest one of the bunch! (she once walked into her stable wall!) Yes she thinks she's so funny tipping over my wheelbarrow! Little rascal! I should have known really....this is when i...

I think they build them big there, my friend decided to tell me this after I'd jumped so I thought it was in my head at the time lol! First Showjumping Comp on Baby one!

I know i dont post often but super proud of my baby pone after yesterday! :p It was a very last minute decision to go along with a friend (an hour before we set off!) as a space in her lorry unexpectedly became available, so after 2 days off since the physio off we trundled! :D We entered the...
