I am planning to buy a new lightweight rug however most 0g I have had before have not been waterproof and immediately soaked through (I assume as it’s a bit like a tent)

I am looking at the Swish ones as I love their rugs but I am just wondering is it best to get their 0g + a 50g liner (will this be as waterproof as just getting a 50g) or just get the 50g?

My thought are that with the 0g rug and liner I have more options but worried that it may not be as waterproof as it’s not all one thing and my previous 0g have not been waterproof (not from swish)

Any thoughts welcome!

I had this dilemma and went for the 50g swish. It’s held up really well during some of the torrential rain we’ve had. Like you I’ve never rated 0g rugs

No fill are a bit rubbish unless you replace frequently imho. I do have one and it’s lasted but primarily as isn’t used in wet weather (Rooni is a real shiverer in the rain so put 50g or 100g on instead etc).

I have 3 Rhino no fills which are over 8 years old and none of them have ever leaked. Tonight B has a 200 liner in and DP a 100 as it’s due to sleet around 4am. I bought DP a 50gm Amigo this winter in the sales, perfectly good rug but doesn’t fit as well as the Rhinos do.

Depends on the denier of the rug.

I personally prefer a 50g over a no fill as I find they leak and a liner underneath would just get wet too. I have a 50g shires highlander which is 1200D, any less than that I think is a false economy.

I would have always rated Swish and have a couple of their 0g with various liners but been really disappointed with their latest rug I bought in the Autumn.

I bought a Shires 1200D 0g and been so impressed with it. I prefer 0g with liners personally as find them more useful in Spring/Summer/Autumn.

I love the 50g Weatherbeeta we have. It’s 1200D so tough on the outer. Doesn’t feel especially heavier than a 0g. I do think a bit of fill is almost better for moisture management?? Not very scientific, don’t quote me haha.

I have the cheaper 0g shires highlander and the 50g 1200 denier plus version. I actually like both. The 0g hasn’t leaked with me but it is more of a summer rug. I like the 50g for this time of year and it’s got the reflective strips.
