Hi there, has anyone any tips on how to correct the horse cantering like a banana (e.g. bringing their quarters in)? Mine does it particularly on the right rein. Friend suggested leg yields in canter and I have tried giving aids/ sitting more like as if I was doing leg yields but on the straight if that makes sense.
Will this be correctable in a 17 year old actually?
Thanks

Most horses have a tendency to canter slightly 1/4s in. One way to help is to canter shoulder fore (a less exaggerated form of shoulder-in).

Agree with Eggs, my young horse was doing this, i was trying to push her quarters back out to no avail, but instructor told me the best way is shoulder fore or as Eggs says canter fore. Fixed her quite quickly.

Taz used to do it with my step dad but no one else as he twisted his hips out but his shoulders faced forward and Taz would get confused... does your horse do it with other people? if not ride like your riding shoulder in instead :) good luck let us know how you get on :)

Best advise! Horses tent to do it if they don't want to sit on their invite hind. Shoulders ore will help them with that! Good luck
