....if they did, I'd be checking if it had a pulse lol.

Having said that my TB that I used to have, he never spooked once and you could of ridden him down the M62, he was what you'd call 'bombproof' I guess and my other lad is also 'solid' on any busy road, you could stand him with his nose next to the barrier on the crossing for the London to Scotland main line which go through our next village, trains would wizz past at va ery high speed, he'd wouldnt even batter an eye lid.

not 100% no. My old ponys new owners say he is preety much 100% bombproof, as in they let anyone ride him- babies to adults, as although he generally doesnt spook, they can always spook. Horses are flight animals so they run and then look, instead of looking and then running, we can train them not to, but training will only go so far

i think when someone says 100% bombproof they want a horse/pony that doesnt bolt/buck/rear etc. etc. if a dog pops out of the hedge, or a bird flys out infront of it, you would hope that they realise horses and ponies will always spook to a certain extent.

Well...we had a mare on loan that was unfazed by traffic of any sort. Her owner kept her in Bedgebury Forest for a while and regularly met monstrous timber harvesting kit.
She also went to the Royal as her third ever show with me and stared blankly at tractors, hackney drivers shaking carrier bags to make their horses pick their feet up and at the Household Cavalry clattering down the horsewalk.
But if a rabbit ran out of the hedge when we were hacking out, you wouldn't see her for dust. Partnered by my traffic shy hunter that was rock solid once he was off road, it made for some interesting hacks.

My Josie is extremely bomb proof. I rider her regularly through the town centre past sainsburys with the shopping trolley and everything.

The ONLY time she has ever spooked big, is riding through a field and bird scarer went off in the field right next to us. She then fled!

I dont think any horse can be bomb proof.

see... i always get confuzzled by these posts... cos 'bombproof' to me means they don't 'bomb off' (e.g. bolt).

my horse spooks, he jumps, plants his feet and blows through his nose. but i genuinely trust him NEVER to bolt. i would therefore describe him as bombproof...

I dont think any horse is 100 % Bombproof

They become perfect in our eyes when have owned them a while and stop seeing their faults

Well thats what I tell myself.

Bombproof means to mean u could let a bomb off in front of them and they wouldnt move or bat an eyelid

I used to ride my boy next the shooting range...not quite a bomb but still....rather scary all the same but he was fine.

There always shooting near us and bush beating, bird scare machines....they need to be pretty bombproof or as close as can be

Doesn't exsist and I think its dodgy someone advertising this (god forbid the horse should spook at all with new owners, that'll be a law suit!).

My mum used to help at RDA (surely the most bombproof ponies you can get!) - she was leading a really dozy horse who'd never put a foot wrong in about the 15 years they RDA yard had had it, one day doing a demo in front of the childrens parents, mum was leading it and it just bolted suddenly throwing the kid off! Something probably stung it, even so - NOTHING is bombproof!

not 100% bombproof no, 100% trafficproof possibly but that's not the same as bombproof. My boy is THE best horse I've ever ridden in traffic and I would call him 100% in traffic as no vehicle ever bothers him (I hack down the main A road from the M4 to Cardiff airport and the other day as 3/4 of the way along before I realised I was in a day dream and only holding the buckle - oops!) , but even he will have a sideways 'sashay' at a flapping plastic bag, a kid with a kite or a new road sign or something like that. Bombproof to me would mean more than just traffic proof it would mean NEVER spooks no matter what and I've never met a horse like that. They all have something. I would have described my friend's horse as bombproof until we came across a field of ostrich on one sponsored ride we did. She turned and bolted in the other direction while my old boy who could be a bit spooky just stood looking a bit confused and trying to work out what they were!

Mine are like that... we live on outskirts of London, heavy traffic, shooting range nearby, and fireworks they stand and gaze at going ooooooooo ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh some are so close I cant believe they dont react even loud bangers and screeching ones

but if theres a new sign up or god forbid if a bag blows out in front of them... they would be off!! so I couldnt say they were bombproof.

I think the conventional use of the term 'bombproof' is that the horse doesn't react at all to noises, 'scary things' etc - i.e. a bomb could go off next to them and they wouldn't bat an eyelid.

No. No horse can ever be described as 100% bombproof, even the best will not be 100% all the time.

Horses are unpredictable animals so you could never say one was 100% bombproof. Some horses are very safe but that doesn't mean they won't spook from time to time.

There was a police horse in Sweden that died only maybe two years ago named Utter, his rider has written two books about him and I would say he was 100 % bombproof while at work.

He was 34 or 35 years old when he died, had done some show only maybe 6 months before he died and I think he wasn't retired from active duty until he was 27. He loved his work, loved attention (especially if it involved chocolate) and though he hated fireworks, he stood like a rock if he had his saddle on the back and was police horse. Strange, he wasn't bothered by any other loud sounds but didn't like fireworks.

She rode him into an apartment building once where there was a suspected burglary amongst many other things.
