Looking for a bombroof cob. Doesnt seem to be much around and those that are are £3-4k - No recession in relation to cobs !?

Most of the dealer seem to bring them in from Ireland so thinking about the posibility of cutting out the middle man.

Has anyone done this ? - What was the experience like, did you do it all off your own back or did you find a contact here/there that arranged it all for you.

Many thanks

£3-4k    We picked one up last week - absolutely bombproof 6 year old, no issues whatsoever - for £250

Just to add im in South East London / Kent Borders so prob a lot more down here ?

Also if anyone knows of anything / can recommend anyone heres what im looking for:

Gelding, 15-15.2hh, Pref black, hairyier the better! age 6-10, must be 100% to look after nervous nelly, happy hacker, odd sponsored ride, maybe a wt test and possibly a 6inch cross pole if no-ones watching :-)

Must enjoy being pampered, fussed over and cuddled. Will also be handled / ridden by 10 & 13 yr old daughters.

thanks

That fits our boy to the letter! Although he can pop 2' plus with little effort. Such a shame you aren't closer, as he is totally surplus to stock here, only bought because he was too nice to let go...

Horse prices are a bit cheaper up here, maybe you should have a horse shopping holiday? :)

there is a company on horsemart that have a really good reputation for cobs that are well behaved, have good temprements etc, they are based in Kent

I have a horse that you describe and i purchased him 2 months ago. He came with a fairly large price tag unfortunatly... £4500. But he is irish and was imported a few months prior to me buying him.

He's technically a sports horse but he's closer to a cob really. Lovely temperment, not many things worry him and i purchased him from a dealer/riding school in sussex.

Ooohh also i can recommend mysafecobs. I contacted them and they were so helpful when i was searching. My friend has purchased 3 cobs from them and they are all little diamonds! But you wont get much change from 5grand.

Have you been to clip clop traders? Got my awesome cob there.

Haha! I was just about to post the link:

http://www.clipcloptraders.co.uk/ridingclub.html

Hugo came from there (via his previous owner!) and the lady there was really helpful when I was thinking about buying him - she told me all she knew about his history. I looked on their listings too, but then decided on my lovely boy :D

Can also recommend Clipclop Traders, aswell as Southgate Farm-both have great reputations, worth a try and not too far from you. Good luck!

i am selling 14.2hh safe trad cob at the moment i have been inundated with calls for her but no one has been yet most calls are from very far away despite me putting the area on the add only asking £600 which is prob why they ring but transport woul dadd to cost greatly i suppose which why no one actually been to see her yet .There are cheaper ones around you just have to look depends if you want a show type or a family hack type show cobs are quite high in price .

Thats exactly what I will be looking for in the new year (Taking some time out for lessons to regain confidence!). Bought a supposedly 'easy and simple in all ways cob' for £4 a month ago and ended up in hospital first time I tried to ride it. Probably visit Clipclops or safecobs as they both have really good rep. The dealer I got mine from did refund in the end though!
Good luck with your search!

how about Farringtons coloured horses, they always seem to have nice safe cobs advertised (not always coloured either), don't have personal experience of them but not heard anything bad either, they are more the 2.5-3k range too:)

I got my lad from Ireland 7 years ago as a 3 year old (when horses were alot more expensive) for €800 incl tack and delivery.

He's 15.1hh heavy hairy black/brown...;) (and wouldn't sell him if you offered me £1million)
