ETS Don't know a lot about shetlands but that does seem very high.

why, what price should a shetland be??

would you pay that for a section A?? There are people in the showing world who will happily pay 15k for a good top level section A.

people seem to forget a good shetland can carry a child into their teens (seriously) and that properly bred and handled shetlands are worth their weight in gold.

You cannot put a price on a child's safety, plus add in what it's won, what it's capable of....

O ye, I mean I am not saying it doesnt look like a stonking pony! I just think that 4.5K could get you a decent all rounder horse in the current climate, and Im all for safety for your kid etc...... just have to be honest and say Iv never seen a shetland (or many sec A's) priced at that!

Can see why it does well showing though!

I'd imagine that shetland would do all a bigger 'allrounder' will do (just ona smaller scale). And with that quality would get some child's name in stars in the showing world, which many parents will pay for.

It's FAR more than i'd pay for a pony (Like, 4 grand more!) but some shetlands do go for that price. I have my suspicions that I've seen that one before and it belongs to a professional well known producer, whose mere name will have that pony sold quickly...

For that money, i'd assume it has a VERY good show record at the highest level...but then I'd question why they havent put its record on the advert if its that good.

There is a gorgeous little Dartmoor mare for sale on Horsequest who has a list of achievements as long as your arm, and she is only £2750 (well worth the money, IMHO). I

well thats the thing, if she came with a showing record of like 4years hoys highly rated etc etc...... then ok!

But I am not a big follower of alot of shetland things (no children as im only 21yo and defo too big for a shetty!

) I was unaware of how much they costed, even one that nice!

I wouldnt pay that much for a shetty, but have groomed for a friend who shows them all over the country and know a lot of people who would! She has good breeding and a good show record, I heard about a miniature stallion that went for £10K (yes really!) a few years ago, people pay a hell of a lot more than you would expect for the top class ones!

I Luuuuuuuuuuuurve shetlands and I would pay that sort of money if I were into showing. Why not? Just because they are dinky doesn't mean they should be a dinky price too! lol
