Firstly, pictures will be arranged! Secondly, mum has got an upset tum- vet has advise to not panic, though ordinarily I give prokolin- can you feed prokolin to a lactating mother?
Thanks !!

I wouldnt use anything like prokalin in a lactating bitch, just to be on safe side, have to remember that everything you feed her goes into the pups. Is she having milk? This is quite often the cause of mum being loose (as is eating all the after birth but at 11 days that wont be cause!) Sometimes its just all the hormonal fluctuations that upset things for a few days. I would as the vet says, not panic and put her on chicken and rice for a day or two to try and firm her up.

Hmm yes I wondered, it says it's ok to give to puppies but not sure from what age.
She's having some chicken and plain pasta now- she doesn't like rice *rollseyes*. She is drinking enough I think and the pups look fine, but will probably put some very very weak chicken stock (home made) in her water later to tempt her a bit more.

Such stress!! Thanks very much V.

You're welcome. If you are a natural worrier about things like this (like me!) I keep an eye on temperature and bitches colour a few times a day, just to keep myself satisfied I'm not missing early signs of anything more serious. You can check her nipples too and make sure milk looks fine in colour and consistancy from each nipple. If shes still eating and drinking happily and the pups are still thriving its very likely its absolutely nothing to worry about.
eta if you want her to drink more let her watch you put a splash (and only a splash) of milk into her water bowl, this normally works. My bitch is drinking a few bowls of lactol a day as well as normal water but it does upset some tums and wouldnt recommend giving to a bitch thats already got an upset tum!

Perfectly ok to use Pro-Kaolin ,it is more important to get her right to keep the milk supply going. Some antibiotics will affect the puppies through the milk , Cephalaxin is one of them, most of them are fine though.

Thanks to you both- I did actually check with the vets this morning, and pro kaolin is fine so she has had a dose. She seems bright in herself and the puppies all look fine- one is smaller than the others admittedly, but is the most active so :/ unsure on that level- the pup feeds well enough and the coat is fine and she's not losing weight just not gaining as much as the ones that snooze and feed only.... Vets saw all the pups yesterday and said all looked well.

Mum is now eating some white fish and pasta happily.

I'm not the natural panicker- my mother is !!!
