Does anyone know of a really good 11-12HH hunting pony? Must be able to be lead from an adults horse for a very keen 3yr old girl. We are happy to look from East Anglia down to Devon/Cornwall. Ideally something which will be smart enough to go in the ring in the summer and also do a bit of Pony Club.

I know I'm not asking a lot - Please help!!!

There is one on the Ponyclub website, near Market Harborough, Leics.I rang up about her,a mare called Poppet, but she isn't an off lead rein pony and that is what I wanted. She's been up forsale for a month or so at £950.Apparently she has taken 3 year old children out with the Pytchley lead off a horse.

Meanwhile if anyone has a reliable 1st pony for loan,I've been looking for months with no success.

:)Well,it is for my 6 year old.She is currently sharing her 8 year old sister's 13hh mare, but really needs something smaller.I'm not bothered about age,the older the better really, but need it to be safe in open fields [we have a farm] and bombproof on the road. She wants to join her sister at Pony Club, but is only just learning to jump and canter so really needs a confidence giver who has been there and done it.We've had a couple of naughty ponies on trial, who have chucked her on the floor in various ways,so she is a bit nervous now.

I don't want much,do I? Wherabouts is your sister's pony?

My sister's pony is in Devon but it's a complete first pony and my niece got her when she was one and she's now 3 and needs something which can trot in a fashion which she can now put her established (and very proud of!!) rising trot into practise! He'll be too small for a 6yr old as is a Shetland.

Ellie - Thank You! Unfortunately he'd be too big as my niece is only 3 rising 4 so really needs to be under 12hh.

Oh what a shame-Devon is about 5 hours away from us and I have no trailer at the minute.Thank you though-it is reassuring that those little ponies are out there.:) Good luck with the hunting pony.

i know of a little dun gelding he has been hunting, (with a 4yr old kid on he has been to shows, ) i have loads of pics of him and owner has a website..

BUT he wont be cheap!

here we go website.. its the dun gelding.. ive got pic of him with ballons tied to him and all sorts if wanted!

i will say he is a cracker, so gentle, and used to kids, in his early days hed go out hacking with tot on, whilst mum pushed a push chair leading another pony, he will also go odd the lead rein, and have a good canter with a semi novice
rider. he leads off mums cob, and qualified for the a dartmoor hill pony thingy at devon county show..
