My handsome 12yr old Zangersheide Gelding has done a fair bit of BSJA up to newcomers, due to his lack of 'experienced (or ballsy)' riders.

Hes jumping nicely at home up to 1.60m, and looking at his bloodlines should certainly have the genetics to jump greatly, although this isnt always the case.

Do you think hes too old to progress?

Im starting to jump Fox / 1.20m on him, but is it too late to start progressing the levels now, or is there hope?

Hes not the most extravigant jumper, neither expressive, but he clears fences well enough.

any feedback or previous experiences would be greatful, thanks!

Looks like he has plenty of scope, and if he's low mileage... why not try?! :D Good luck and keep us updated!

Will do! lovely brave and honest boy, im only 14 (still on ponies) so i also lack experience, but me and him have really glued, he just needs a lot of flatwork and muscle development!
Competing BSJA next weekend, will post results :D

He's gorgeous!!

Also, I have to say, he throws a better shape, and looks more enthusiastic over the bigger fences! I would take that as a hint!!! Go for it, and have fun! :p

12 is nothing!

I have a 15 year old who'smjust gone Novice BE and I intend to take him further as long as he stays sound and enthusiastic :)

Not in my opinion!

If hes sound and willing I say go for it!

My 17 YO absolutely loves her jumping and would do it every day of the week if she was given the chance! :D

Like mine, your boy looks like he jumps nicer over the bigger fences. No that Im brave enough to jump 1.60 (yet;))
